USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage movie plot

This film is adapted from a real event. Nicholas Cage plays Captain Charles Butler McEvoy. His ship was hit by a torpedo in the South Pacific in July 1945 and carried the first atomic bomb on board   . Approximately 300 of the 1,196 crew members who boarded the ship died with the ship, and the rest faced sun exposure, dehydration, salt water erosion and shark attacks while waiting for rescue. Only 317 sailors were rescued, McAvoy was sent to a military court and was exonerated half a century later   .
