In the turbulent Northern Ireland, drug crimes are rampant, countless families are deeply affected by drugs, and many children have suffered huge physical and mental damage because of drugs, and corrupt police agencies are simply unable to effectively combat this crime.
Northern Irish female journalist Veronica Galinis a man of the day, a contemporary "hero". She is the ace reporter for the well-known newspaper The Independent on Sunday. With the support of her own family, especially her mother, she embarks on a campaign of courage and determination to reveal.
In order to find out the culprits behind these drug trades, she risked herself to break into the criminal organization and dig the truth out of it. These sensational reports have ushered in the praise of a national hero for her, but also greatly threatened the interests of drug giants. In the eyes of these people, Veronica Gaelin is more of a threat than any police agency.
The constant threats and intimidation did not frighten Gaelin. She did not turn back, and finally fell under the gun of the terrorists. Her death sent shockwaves across the country and prompted the government to change several laws.

After watching it, it made me doubt, examine myself, and think about the social thinking about the relationship between professional ethics and life safety of journalists. A very good film. I like the line "Everyone can remember, when they learned that Veronica was killed on Nas Street. , where are you?" There's really no better way to express it.

To journalists. The fact that the true story is so moving and so brave and persevering actually existed is both gratifying and heartfelt. Cate is really good at being a strong and brave character in biopics and she can always put in a little joke to make the characters more real. The movie itself is not strong enough compared to the story, but it can also be shocking because of the superb starring.

Veronica Guerin quotes

  • [to an informer who is bound and gagged in a derelict flat]

Martin Cahill: [genially but menacingly] Ah Jamey, Jamey, Jamey. You're an awful man, d'you know that? What did you have to go and shoot your mouth off to the Gards about me for? Did you think I wouldn't find out it was you? You know, I was thinking about killing you. And then I thought to myself, you know, sure, people get killed every day - and nobody gives a shite. So I've decided I'm going to have to hurt you a bit.

Jamey the Tout: [mumbling through gag] Jesus, no!

Martin Cahill: Actually, I'm going to hurt you an awful lot. But the good news is I'm going to do you myself. Oh yeah, personally. I mean, you don't want people thinking that just because I've got my name in the papers and all that, that Martin Cahill is too posh to do his own dirty work, now do you?

[Cahill puts on gloves and picks up a knife]

Jamey the Tout: [mumbling through gag] For fuck's sake!

Martin Cahill: Take the gag out of his mouth. Let the little scumbag squeal - it's what he's good at, isn't it?

    [Out of shot, Jamey screams]

  • Veronica Guerin: You'd do the same. If you saw those kids on the street, you would do the same.
