The story is set in a remote villa in Tuscany, Italy in the 1950s. Emilia Clarke plays a nurse named Verena in the film, who is hired to take care of the teenage heir who has lost his biological mother and no longer speaks, hoping to help him restore communication. But with Verena's step-by-step observation of the young master, she began to find something wrong. It seemed that there was a powerful and mysterious curse controlling the little child, and this curse came from a stone wall in the villa.
