The film puts the perspective entirely on children, looking at a civil war that should not have happened from the perspective of a twelve-year-old girl, and showing the audience the cruelty of war through the perspective of an adolescent girl. Dreams of African lore are also interspersed with the realistic footage, reminding viewers of endless grief, hardship and suffering. Komona is also a symbol, she symbolizes the African people's desire for peace and humanity.The film is neither sensational nor grandstanding, but tells a very stable and sad story from an inner perspective.
