The detective's whole life is swallowed by logic, and he finally realizes his emotions at the end of his life. He finally has these, but it is like a young woman getting a belated childhood doll. After suffering for it all my life, I finally owned it, but it was useless. The movie is sad, lengthy, heavy, and mourning. Impressive, but boring. The first half was a bit of a chore, and in the second half there was a vague sense of impact.
