Many of the crowd characters in the film were the oppressed proletarian masses who participated in October at that time. One of the leaders of the uprising at that time, Nikolai Podvoisky () also participated in the performance of a Коммунистическая партия Советского Союза (he was the chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 10th anniversary of October, who commissioned the film to Sergei Mikhailovich Eizenshtein ). The script refers to Ten Days That Shook the World, a journalistic non-fiction book by American journalist John Reed . Like " Bronenosets Potemkin " and " Strike ", this film is also the representative work of Sergei Mikhailovich Eizenshtein exploring montage editing in the twenties.

      "October" by Nick Brown

Explanation of the passage "The Bridge Rises":

In my opinion, this passage represents an extraordinary extension of time, especially the moment when the bridge opens. This paragraph is dominated by repetition and temporal elongation of this particular moment. Its composition principle is to cross-cut two micro-events together, with a metaphor inserted in the middle as a transition.
Two events were the raising of the bridge and the sacrifice of a Bolshevik to save the red flag....

      Masterpieces

      1. Ideology is advanced and reflects the characteristics of the times

At that time, Soviet films were influenced by the political situation and ideology, and Soviet films carried the functions of propaganda and cognition. This film tells the whole context of the October Revolution with superb narration and editing. Oppose exploitation and oppression, advocate equality and freedom; criticize capitalism and promote socialism. Films show new...

      montage

The early Russian montage is very famous in the history of film, montage is divided into story montage and editing montage. One of the best and most famous is Eisenstein, whose masterpieces "Battleship Potemkin" and "October" are excellent examples.
As a filmmaker, Eisenstein hated the narrative mode of traditional feature films. His concept was to let the shots be assembled to achieve visual shock, so most of his editing was illogical. In my opinion, Eisenstein's films can be summed up...

Discontinuity clips on October and their context

(This article is excerpted from The Art of Cinema: Form and Style. The purpose of this excerpt is to give me and some general audiences a general understanding of the background of the film and the angle from which it should be viewed.) At 20 For most Soviet directors in the 1920s, editing was the primary method of organizing the film's form, and it did more than reinforce the development of the story in a system of continuity. Eisenstein's early films—"Strike," "Battleship Potemkin,"...

A tribute film celebrating the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution of 1917. When the workers and the government began to conflict, there was a montage of super-short shots, such as the multiple alternate appearances of faces and gun barrels, etc., paired with fast-paced music, creating a strong visual impact and Visual wonder. This dazzling clip is really dazzling. The shot is shorter than the Odessa staircase sequence in Battleship Potemkin. The whole film shows the magnificent October...

Sergey Eisenstein led a group of Soviet filmmakers in 1927 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution. The film truly reflects the October Revolution of 1917, interviewing many participants of the October Revolution, allowing people to witness the real situation in the early years of the Russian Revolution. Like "Battleship Potemkin" and "Strike", this film is also the representative work of Eisenstein's exploration of montage editing in the...

"October" is one of Sergei Mikhailovich Eizenshtein's most experimental and creative films using montage. Although there are many famous shots, there are many images and complex structures, and it is easy for non-film students (such as me) to look at them and get blinded. This article, published in Jump Cut Magazine in 1977 by Murray Sperber, is an early and well-known one of the review articles perusing...
