Hard to score

This is a difficult film to score.
It does not have the hot scenes that imaginatively imagine the title and poster, nor does it appear the strange combination of little loli and muscle uncle seen in other reviews. Some are just poverty, danger and chaos on the endless African plains, and a person. Want to change all these efforts.
At first, I thought this was like a not-so-bad missionary film. A bad boy who took drugs and wounded his wife was taken to church by his wife to listen to two worships and be baptized once and then he became a faithful believer of God. If there is such a story A good development may be a touching chicken soup-style movie for the soul, but focusing on the first half an hour of the film, it seems to pave the way for his paranoia in the second half.
Most of the content in the film is about him devoting all his body and mind to the cause of helping the Sudanese people. Although the various crimes of Kony and LRA and the precarious helplessness of local women and children shocked me time and time again, a person who has not fulfilled his family responsibilities and cannot even guarantee his family's standard of living, treated himself rudely. Family and friends, to send warmth to people thousands of miles away. This kind of Lei Feng-style story matches his tenderness to African children and his rudeness to his family. It is not so much moving, it is more paranoid and pathological. feel.
In the end of the movie, according to the story, Sam finally reconciled with his family, but it was just an international long-distance call home to talk to his daughter softly. If I didn’t look back at the comments, I would almost ignore it. And such a call is nothing compared to nothing. The harm he had done to the family before he went to the office could not prove that he had changed his mind in any way.
If the whole film ends in this way, then I am only impressed by the cruel rebels in turbulent Africa, and a real American dream that a prodigal son and a bad boy can bring a vivid and colorful life to his family within a few years. Until the final subtitles told us that this film is not a fiction, but based on Sam’s real life, it makes it difficult to ask for anything about this film. The blunt plot turns and plot designs that lack highlights have become acceptable. Give him one star.

The transformation of the male lead is not at all convincing, and the film is reduced to a pale preaching religious film. Actually, I came to see the movie title, hehe

In any case, I didn't expect this to be a warm work. The subject matter is good and the perspective is good, but the director's shooting is too loose and lengthy, and people can't put their emotions into it. Although it is adapted from a real person, the twists and turns of the characters in the film are too rigid, and the transformation is very rigid, which is difficult to resonate~
