The report of the Europa report, and answers to questions

I personally think that some of the evaluations given very low scores are somewhat arbitrary:
1. It is mentioned in the movie that the temperature of the scheduled landing site is significantly higher than that of other areas, because the splashing offset has reached the area where the ice layer is more than 2,000 meters (see the display of the rig's travel parameters) Later, the spacecraft landed for the second time and arrived at the predetermined location. Because of the high temperature, the ice layer was extremely thin, and the impact force caused the ice shell to rupture, so that creatures of the opposite sex could reach the surface.
2. The high temperature area is due to the existence of submarine volcanoes. After drilling on the spacecraft, it was found that the sulfur content in high-temperature areas is high, which is reasonable. Bacteria that rely on sulfur to live around submarine volcanoes have also been found in the deep ocean of the earth, and do not rely on oxygen and photosynthesis to survive.
3. Absolute zero is the surface of the planet. Because the thick ice layer acts like the earth's atmosphere, it isolates the erosion of cosmic rays and solar particles, and it is possible for organisms to survive. The water under the ice layer exists in a liquid state, so the temperature is absolutely above 0 degrees Celsius.
4. Alien creatures do not survive by eating astronauts. The film mentioned that low-level organisms (similar to green algae) were found on the surface of the planet, so the director's setting is that there is a complete food chain in the deep ocean under the ice layer, and it is reasonable or inevitable to produce high-level organisms.

Summary: As a low-cost science fiction film, in a limited time, it is impossible to state everything in detail, but overall there is no big fallacy. The soft and hard of science fiction are only relative concepts, and hard science fiction cannot be equated with scientific research reports. The film’s shooting angle is unique, which mobilizes the audience’s sense of presence, which is good.
Especially in recent years, filming science fiction (especially hard science fiction) has become less and less pleasing to the audience, and the expected return is not high. The investment in other types of films is relatively large. The main reason is that the audience’s scientific literacy is declining. Science fiction is not as good as shooting magic. What is the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc., good films are emerging in endlessly, but how many new science fiction films can be watched now? This is not only the case in movies, but also in TV series. Since Star Trek and Galactica, I have basically not chased science fiction dramas comfortably...
So, be more tolerant and supportive of science fiction!

In fact, it's not as bad as expected... Cold science fiction... It's about the courage and wisdom of human beings to continuously explore... It's just that the complex creatures of Jupiter are actually luminous octopuses. It's really disappointing...

A truth comes at a great price. A very good pseudo-documentary. After reading it, I realized that there is actually Wu Yanzu in it. .

Europa Report quotes

  • Andrei Blok: What would you do if you get out there and find nothing?

William Xu: Well, even if we found nothing it's an effective discovery.

  • Dr. Samantha Unger: Andrei and James had to do an EVA to repair the system. A bit like performing ballet and rocket science at 125,000 miles an hour.
