A fascinating movie that really touches on human nature, and the instinct of survival. The subjective perception of monstrosity is often the result of survival. Like most monsters, Aileen acted upon her instinct to survive for the sake of love, which ultimately became her downfall . Incredible performance by Charlize Theron, a role which eventually landed her an Oscar, not only is she able to transform herself physically, her soul transformed with her as well. The bulging eyes of Aileen is not the eyes of a monster, rather eyes of a creature merely yearning for survival, how can you not feel pity for that?

Once upon a time, there was a silly little girl who liked dolls like many little girls and longed to become a sweet and pure idol star. When she grew up, she met many men and turned her into a female man. Later, she no longer liked men. I started to like little women. Later, she couldn't become a sweet star, and she was no longer a female man. Oh my God, she became a monster.

Aileen: I wish there was a way that people can forgive you for something about this, you know. But they can't. They can't, man. So I gonna die, Sel... Hey Sel, I'll never forget you. Good bye, baby. Bye baby.
Selby: Good bye, Lee.
