This movie actually tells me that life is not determined by causal logic, but full of chaotic uncertainty. We encounter many things that life imposes on us every day, maybe happiness, maybe suffering, many people want to know the reason, why is this happening? why me? In fact, there is no reason at all. These are all uncertain accidents, or they are determined by fate. If you are too obsessed with knowing the reasons, not only will there be no results, but you will be lost in life and unable to extricate yourself. So, what do we do when faced with the experiences that life imposes on us? It is very simple, we must cherish happiness, and we must be strong in suffering, just like the famous Jewish quote quoted in the title: "Accept everything with a simple heart". After accepting what life imposes on us, what can we expect from life? In other words, what is the meaning of life? What is the meaning? The same thing, everyone's views are different, some people think that the meaning is only in the result, some people think that the meaning exists in the process, and some people think that the meaning is actually in the beginning. What is the meaning of life? If life is uncertain, then life has no meaning at all. But in order to survive, we must impose our own meaning on life, which cannot be given by others, only by you. This meaning can be anything, money, status, affection, honor... it can be, and then live for it. With this meaning to ourselves, we are evened out with life.

On the way to work, I am still thinking about the blackness and uncertainty of life. Fortunately, I was watching "A Brief History of Time" recently, otherwise what Schrödinger said in the comments, I can't measure it, I don't know why. Migrant workers should work harder to read books. . .

Did you also dream of the little electric sheep last night?

A Serious Man quotes

  • Larry Gopnik: We had, I think, a good talk, the other day, but you left something...

Clive Park: I didn't leave it.

Larry Gopnik: Well, you don't even know what I was gonna say.

Clive Park: I didn't leave anything. I'm not missing anything. I know where everything is.

Larry Gopnik: Well... then, Clive, where did this come from?

    [raises his eyebrows]

Larry Gopnik: This is here, isn't it?

Clive Park: Yes, sir. That is there.

Larry Gopnik: This is not nothing; this is something.

Clive Park: Yes. That is something.

    [a beat]

    Clive Park: What is it?

Larry Gopnik: You know what it is! I believe. And you know I can't keep it, Clive.

    Clive Park: Yes sir.

Larry Gopnik: I'll have to pass it on to Professor Finkle, along with my suspicions about where it came from. Actions have consequences.

    Clive Park: Yes sir. Often.

Larry Gopnik: No, always! Actions always have consequences! In this office, actions have consequences!

    Clive Park: Yes sir.

Larry Gopnik: Not just physics, morally.

    Clive Park: Yes.

Larry Gopnik: And we both know about your actions.

Clive Park: No sir. I know about my actions.

Larry Gopnik: I can interpret, Clive. I know what you meant me to understand.

Clive Park: Meer sir my sir.

Larry Gopnik: Meer sir my sir?

Clive Park: [Careful enunciation] Mere... surmise. Sir. Very uncertain.

  • Sy Ableman: Do you drink wine? Because this is an incredible bottle. This is not Mogen David. This is a - heh heh - a wine, Larry. A Bordeaux.

    Larry Gopnik: You know, Sy...

Sy Ableman: Open it. Let it breathe. Ten minutes. Letting it breathe, so important.

Larry Gopnik: Thanks, Sy, but I'm not...

Sy Ableman: I insist! No reason for discomfort. I'll be uncomfortable if you don't take it. These are signs and tokens, Larry.

Larry Gopnik: I'm just-I'm not ungrateful, I'm, I just don't know a lot about wine and, given our respective, you know...

    [Sy abruptly hugs him]

Sy Ableman: S'okay. S'okay. We're gonna be fine.
