"Fellow Man"

A rather profound drama that struck me with unreserved energy. The violent expressions of each actor reflect their solid acting skills and professional quality. I think the performance of these actors in daily life must be very different from the performance in the movie, otherwise, which director would dare to choose such a violent person to complete the homework.
The brutality of the felons in the movie made me feel a little uncomfortable watching the movie, and it made people see an extreme part of human society. The narrative idea of the film is to put all the hatred on the prison guard Jackson, without accusing him too much of his cruelty to prisoners. The portrayal of jackson's life completely shows this tough image.
The role of the environment in changing a person is immeasurable. I don't think all the blame should be directed at the American soldiers who were merciless in the torture of prisoners on the battlefield in Iraq. The most fundamental problem is the war. The day-to-day slaughter has already wiped out part of human nature, and at the same time, soldiers can't have too much human reflection, maybe a moment of hesitation will send you to the underworld. "Being out of the mud without being stained, and being clean without being a demon" is not a myth that everyone can accomplish, especially when survival is at the top of everything. Although Wade's cellmate and soul mentor in the film is a wise man who can choose to create mine, it can't stop him from having to integrate into prison life for a moment of peace.
Life is never going to be so good, but faith gives hope to ordinary people, and "The Serious Man" expresses this point of view, which reminds me of sean connery who plays mason in "Brave Island" and tells goodspeed who plays nicolas to push him to live Faith: "nurtured the hope that there was hope. That one day I'd breathe free air. Perhaps meet my daughter. Modest hopes, but they kept a man alive". The movie is fictional, but it still feels inspiring and elevated by these words.
Sometimes I suggest watching this film when I feel bad. Comparing the tragic life of the protagonist of the film, I should be able to relieve the small difficulties and setbacks in life.

By the way, I intercepted the letter that jhon finally brought to wade, which makes sense. That's the way the movie is. I like to be a little inspirational. It doesn't matter if I use it or not.
Jhon smith:
Usually I'm quoting someone else's words.
The
least I can do is give you some John Smith originals.
They
won't be poetic. It
won't be very poetic But
they'll be the
truth It's the most important Family. And loyalty. Because a con like you know neither exists in this place. Because a truth you know doesn't exist here So don't run from who you've become, felon. So don't escape what you've become Embrace it.

The subject matter and themes are not new, but the writers/directors/actors are quite impressive. The overall tension and aura are strong, and the sense of oppression makes people worry all the way to the end... The only problem is that for people who are sensitive to race, the film's Character settings and some subtext may touch the red line

If I had to, I'd sweep the planet to find my own.

Felon quotes

  • Laura Porter: It's just that anytime I hang on to any bit of hope it gets taken away from me.

  • Gordon Camrose: Though it wasn't the only reason I watched out for him. And I tried to explain that to him. He was one of my true friends.

    Wade Porter: Mine too.
