This movie didn't live up to my two-month-long anticipation. I feel that the screenwriter and director should be the same person. After a search, it really is. I would put Julia Ducono in the same category of directors as Yorgos Lanthimos and Eduardo Casanova. But Julia is far inferior to the latter two, her story is too poor, and the lack of logic is also intolerable. Yorgos Lanthimos' lack of logic is intentional, he is after a sense of the absurd, and he succeeds in that. Julia failed, and her work felt more inconsistent than absurd. From an artistic point of view, the sense of surprise is far less than that of Eduardo Casanova.
"Story" has a very weak sense of existence in this film, it just has a stalk, and then uses imagery to sway the whole film. I absolutely hate this kind of film, unless it gets to the level of Alan Parker's "The Wall", no one can make a good imagery film, or it has no commercial value or positive artistic value. . Its only attraction is "heavy taste" and "hunting for curiosity". Only as a heavy-duty adventure film, it failed again because it was too "artistic".
In the end, the film is supported by art direction (service Hua Dao), photography, and soundtrack. But I can't find the staff list for these positions...
I've waited 3 months for this kind of film, it's disgusting.
