Detective Poirot took the Orient Express and lived in the luxury VIP compartment. This was arranged by the director of the Orient Express Company. I guessed that it was also in case of any special situation, so that Poirot could solve it.

Here, we must first insert a murder case that shocked the United States. The brutal robbers killed the Armstrong family, even the children. Many years have passed.

The wealthy American businessman on the train hired Mr. Poirot as his bodyguard to protect himself, but Mr. Poirot refused. At night Poirot saw the back of a woman walking towards the other side of the train. Early the next morning, flight attendants found the rich American businessman murdered. Due to the heavy snowfall last night, the train could not travel, and it would take three days to request rescue at the earliest. Poirot's good friend and train director asks Poirot for help to find the murderer.

Poirot investigates to find out that everyone on the train is more or less related to that American murder that year, but everyone avoids it, let alone tells it in detail. Looking for clues, the big detective finally sorted out the case.

It turned out that the rich American businessman was the murderer of the Armstrong family. All twelve people on the train were related in one way or another to the Armstrongs. That night, the flight attendant opened the door of the rich businessman, and then quietly put medicine in the wine. After the rich businessman drank the wine, he fell into a coma. Each of the twelve left a knife on the wealthy businessman as revenge for the Armstrongs.

The truth of the story was revealed, and M. Poirot wavered. In the end, Mr. Bianchi and Poirot, the train directors, decided to tell the police a straightforward answer, that the Mafia, disguised as a flight attendant, had killed a wealthy American businessman.

Why do I always feel that it was not Poirot who released 12 people and 12 horses, but 12 people who released Poirot... Sanctions that are not based on legal procedures are deviating from legal principles regardless of their purpose... They are also illegal...

Murder on the Orient Express quotes

  • Hercule Poirot: Cassetti was responsible for her murder. How does that strike you?

Beddoes: I have often felt, sir, that instead of our employers requiring references from us, we should require references from them.

  • Hercule Poirot: Forgive me, Miss Debenham, I must be brief. You met Colonel Arbuthnott and fell in love with each other in Baghdad. Why must the English conceal even their most impeccable emotions?

Mary Debenham: To answer your observations in order: of course, yes, yes, and I don't know.
