different summer

Youth Records. A peaceful summer, the growth of four girls.

Blue and white. The quiet girl lena is as clear and transparent as the Aegean Sea, and the trousers held by the water plants are waiting for a man's hand. Quiet and stubborn seems to be calm, she always feels that life is full, but she can't escape a kind of frame. Meeting a man who went out to sea under the Greek sunshine, and encountering a modern version of family feud, but under the purest and lightest sunlight of the Aegean Sea, lena gained the courage she had never had in her life. The girl took off her white shirt and jumped into the water like a fish, to welcome the freedom that belonged to her.

Gray-black. Tibby is the first to reveal her personality in the film - a person who pursues own world, an avant-garde artist. Straightforward and reckless. While working part-time, I worked hard for my documentary. The wrong delivery of jeans made Baylie appear, a twelve-year-old girl who was suffering from leukemia and was not afraid of death. The appearance of baylie made the still confused tibby clear the direction - if I have enough time, there is no reason not to find the reason why I appear in this world, because - there is always a reason. The name will be baylie, the one who doesn't know if he still counts the stars and is disappointed to record with ill-fitting jeans - baylie.

Golden. A girl running barefoot after her mother's funeral. It seems to use such a conquest to prove that he is not so sad. bridge always wants to be the best one, the most beautiful one, the most flamboyant one. She didn't even know why she was doing this before. With the most primitive and powerful initiative, she got the sense of conquest she wanted, but she felt a depression in her heart. Such an unfilled emptiness turned out to be an escaping departure that could never be changed.

rosy. carmen. A fat girl with dark skin. When I was a child, I watched the back of my father leave and cried lowly into the phone. After that, my father became a symbol that only appeared twice a year. But she still cared about him and still thought that was the part she couldn't lose. She hurried away with joy, but in exchange for the sudden appearance of her stepmother and her two children. She still loved her father, so she couldn't bear that kind of ignorance. She was just doubting his love for her.

Not to say that jeans really bring good luck. It can only be said that this summer, we are all growing up.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants quotes

  • Carmen: [voiceover] It would be easy to say that the pants changed everything that summer. But looking back now I feel like our lives changed because they had to, and that the real magic of the pants was in bearing witness to all of this and in somehow holding us together when it felt like nothing would ever be the same again.

    [pause]

Carmen: Some things never would be

Lena: But we know now that no matter how far we traveled on our own separate paths...

Bridget: Somehow we would always find out way back to each other.

Tibby: And with that, we could get through anything.

Bridget: To us. Who we were, and who we are. And who we'll be.

    Tibby: To the pants.

    Lena: And the sisterhood.

Carmen: And this moment, and the rest of our lives.

    CarmenLenaBridgetTibby: Together and apart.

  • Tibby: Hey, do you know who would have loved this P, Bee? Your mom.

Bridget: Yeah. I remember this one time she decided that she'd make one herself. She always woke up starving after one of her episodes. I was just sitting in the kitchen doing my homework and she just walked in and just started making this thing. You know, I don't even know if you could call it a pizza. It was more like the entire contents of our refrigerator on a round crust.

    [They all laugh]

Bridget: Craziest part is we actually ate it.

    Carmen: Of course you did.

    [Tibby laughs]

Bridget: We ate every single bit of that pizza in like 10 minutes.

    Tibby: Yeah.

Bridget: And we were laughing the whole time. It was great. I remember thinking that maybe there won't be any more bad spells. Maybe she'll just be happy like this forever.

Carmen: It's okay to miss her, Bee. I mean, as hard as it is to be sad about it don't you think maybe it's harder not to be?

    Bridget: [Crying] You don't understand.

    Tibby: [long pause] Bridge...

Bridget: I can't. It hurts too much.

    Carmen: I know.

Bridget: No, you don't know. I just want to feel good and happy and alive. Because if I feel alive then it doesn't seem like she's dead. And if I'm not sad then it proves that I'm not like her.

Carmen: Bee, you don't have to prove that to anybody. I mean, you have a strength in you that your mom never had. As much as she wanted to, she couldn't find it.

Tibby: Yeah, and you have something else too.

    Bridget: What?

Tibby: You have us. And we're not gonna let you go anywhere, okay?

    Bridget: Thank you.

    Carmen: Come here.

[Carmen hugs Bridget and Tibby holds her hand]
