Still night, still light

"Still night, still light" is the title of an album from the Brooklyn girl band Au Revoir Simone, New York. When I saw it for the first time, I was very moved. The picture is full. It is a beautiful community that combines despair and hope. Love such extreme collisions, strong sparks that can tear the heart apart.

Many things struggle with such predicaments. Like same-sex love. confused me for a long time. However, for "Bad Education", it was not attracted by the homosexuality in it. It's not like "Milk", it's very touching my nerves. Every time I see those virtuous people who think they represent the symbols of justice and purity, my teeth itch with hatred. Fortunately, the last candlelight team can calm down a little bit. Thinking about it now, isn't that a still night, still light? And now, waiting for time to turn around, homophobia has been reduced a lot. In fact, the acceptance of the so-called heterogeneity is not a concern for it. True acceptance is not realizing it's special anymore. Just like the school doctor with the baby's body glued to his face in "South Park", what he needs is not to stand up and be visited by everyone. And at this moment when I'm so concerned about alien things, it's the people who don't pay attention to me that fascinate me the most. I don't know how to use computers and I don't know high-tech products. Not catering to this artificial world has always been something I admire.

Therefore, what you see in "Bad Education" is not homosexuality, not religious shackles, or suspenseful film techniques. The only thing that touched his heart was that Juan handed the last note left by Ignacio to Enrique, only to finally know that the brightest light can be seen in the darkest night. Suddenly I heard Faye Wong singing: "Because the whole world is so dirty, I found the most beautiful wish". Throughout the story, Ignacio was eroded by the chaotic and dirty world, but only he retained the original pure love. The first time Juan appeared to Enrique pretending to be Ignacio, Enrique had no plans to meet him again. For all, Ignacio represented darkness and darkness, even if he had a moving voice and a beautiful body. And only for Ignacio, the first love that never died is his only remaining pure fantasy.

I've always been fascinated by Karl Popper's falsificationism. He said that truth cannot be proved, only falsehood can be proved. So when you see 10,000 kind people, you can't say for sure that all human beings are kind, but as long as you see a hypocritical person, you can say that not all people are kind. What is fascinating about this theory is that it strikes at the head-on to conventional thinking and positive things. However, if we take the opposite position, when the proposition is a negative example in the first place, hope is still everywhere. Even if we meet thousands of dirty and shameless hearts, as long as there is still one pure heart, and that pure heart, I can see it in the seemingly impossible Ignacio.

For director Pedro Almodovar, there is only one "Tell Her". In addition to "Cucurrucucu Paloma", which was used by Wong Kar-wai in "Happy Together", the most impressive part is the description of the Spanish silent film "Shrinking Man" in 1924. A man, shrinking his body, got into the body of the woman he admired and coexisted with her. But what I think of is what Eileen Chang said: "The heart of a man is through the stomach, and the heart of a woman is through the vagina". It's an unstoppable flow of desire. Sometimes, I like the depiction of desire, which is real, ambiguous, tangled, and struggling. Not satisfied with torment, satisfied and empty. Full of fun.

"Bad Education" has just the right grasp of desire, too little and it will lack strength, too much and it will become vulgar. The priest inside, whether it is the real one or the actor in the play, can't restrain the lust in his eyes. Like the sea at high tide, it has already overflowed the embankment and cannot be recovered. The uncontrollable love for a young and fresh man's body is also understandable. Excluding moral judgment, at least it is a sincere emotion. From the beginning to the end, Juan evoked other people's desire for him, all the way through his scheming. But I have to say, the most amazing is the performance of Gael García Bernal. It turned out that I didn't feel much about him in "Motorcycle Diary" and "Scientific Sleep", but this time I was really impressed. The scene where he appeared on the stage shocked the audience more than the audience. A certain picture flashed a little bit of Audrey Hepburn's icy beauty, but more of his provocation, not just the catharsis of his eyes, from the whole body to the fingertips, exudes temptation that no one can resist. Love, there is no desire, where do you want to sustenance.

In fact, there is no need to always talk about religion and morality. In this world, everyone is bound by themselves and suppressed by themselves. Moreover, all these choices are voluntary. It is enough to be hit with a good feeling every now and then. Emotions will eventually fade away. Ignacio can remember that little first love because nothing happened. It was because he had nothing, that he regarded that pure emotion as the only life-saving straw. And we all have so much that we don't need to miss it anymore. No one can live without anyone. Perhaps we ourselves have always mistakenly thought that happiness is eternal, but in fact we are asking for trouble. Life has long been seen through, but you still have to pretend to be ignorant. Continue to struggle in torment and continue to rot in emptiness.

The plot is super tight! One by one, it's almost perfect. But GAY's XXOO is really hard to accept...

Like it unexpectedly. The feature film is a bit of a suspense film, and I will continue to watch films directed by a thousand-year-old gay director in Spain in the future. No matter how curious the story is, it becomes a normal thing to eat and sleep in his films.

Bad Education quotes

  • Ignacio: I think I've just lost my faith at this moment, so I no longer believe in God or hell. As I don't believe in hell, I'm not afraid. And without fear I'm capable of anything.
