They are infected by the slogan of defending the country and serving the country. They don't know what war is. But after the experience, they know that war is pointless. It is just a tool for politicians to consolidate and expand their rights. As I mentioned in "1917", the grassroots soldiers just want to go home alive. Why and how to fight are not what they consider. Complete the orders given by the superior, charge to kill the enemy, siege the city, and survive, that's all. Whether hostile or not, warriors have the same heart, they are just pawns for politicians to keep moving forward.
