love, sin

Originally thought that the love short film in Kislovsky's "Ten Commandments" must be a vigorous love tragedy, deep in love, deep in hatred, and finally ended in tragedy. The "Love Short Film" that I don't want to do is a back-window story about a secret love.

movie poster

The poster for this film is very cleverly designed, basically summarizing everything that this little story tells. Nineteen-year-old Tomik spends his days spying on Magda, a middle-aged woman in the building opposite, through his binoculars. The result of this is that he is hopelessly in love with her. Tomik tried everything he could to get in touch with her, hiding her letters, making anonymous phone calls, delivering milk for her... Finally he was able to meet the person he loved and express his love to her, But this switch came with a deep hurt. Unable to bear all of this, Tomic chose to commit suicide. Fortunately, he was found in time and sent to the hospital. Magda realizes the consequences of what she did, and remorseful, she wants to find Tomik to make amends for her mistakes. When they met again, Tomik said to Magda indifferently: "I don't spy on you anymore", which should mean the end of love and also draw an end to the film.

Tomik at the end, maybe the poster is based on this design

It's hard to define what the "commandments" in this film actually mean. In the first half of the film, Tomic bears all kinds of sins in pursuit of his love. It is not too much to describe his behavior as "perverted". Theft, peeping, privately opening other people's letters, and forging payment receipts are his crimes. Magda, who has endured all this, is clearly the image of the victim. But it all turned upside down when Tomik confessed to Magda. Tomic received insults from his loved ones, he chose to kill to escape everything, and Magda, who got the truth, suffered from remorse and self-blame, she changed from a victim to a perpetrator . Maybe only love can make all this change so fast.

It is no exaggeration to say that love can be one of the cornerstones of social relationships, and the family unit of society is built on love. Of course, love can also be the trigger for the disintegration of social relationships. When one party in love wants to hurt the other, a tragedy will happen. There have been a few good thrillers in recent years that have shifted the focus from mental illness to relationships, from David Fincher's "Gone Girl" to Tom Ford's "Nocturnal Animals," about a pair of lovers The story of hurting each other, the scary side of love is vividly reflected. The so-called "love" commandment may mean to stay away from this kind of sin that is born of love.
