    As a fan of Duras' original novel, the movie is not easy to watch, for fear of ruining it. Liang Jiahui's temperament basically conforms to the prototype of the novel, which is cowardly, incompetent, violent and simple. I don't like the image of a girl, because it lacks a strong and resistant character. The second half of the film is noticeably better than the first half. What touched me the most in the novel was the picture of a Chinese man bathing a Caucasian woman. I didn't expect the film to be treated coldly and without beauty. "The Lover" can't be filmed, it is peerless.
