The theme of child sexual abuse from a special perspective, from the perspective of an adult, uncovers the dusty memories of being sexually abused as a child. Although the truth is still disgusting, the point is no longer here. Is the nature of inducing children to accept it worse? The judgment that an adult should have is just like the mother's doubts: whether jenny was really happy at that time, not to mention that she has actually suffered physical and mental harm, even if she is really "happy physically and mentally", this induced pleasure can Is it real?

The horror of the movie lies in the truth, the truth is not in what has actually happened, such as the shocking in many other films, but the practicability of this method. At least I received a similar inducement when I was a child, but I was stupid and didn't respond. I really didn't respond, but I didn't realize how terrible it was at the time. Now I think about it.

The contemporary social background has a great influence on the viewing experience of the film

Loved this way of talking to childhood but it's still not perfect... or maybe it's because the heroine is Laura Dern and it confuses me every time I watch her find a new role and the drama no one thinks she's out of place Is this character... and I didn't feel shocked or surprised at all after reading this story. This is obviously a story that has been happening around us all the time, but everyone pretends to be invisible and inaudible!

The Tale quotes

  • Jennifer: Don't you think it's a little cult-like? I mean, I didn't think it at the time, but now in retrospect? You know, the whole group thing. Worshiping pain, endurance, it's a bit religious, don't you think?

Mrs. G: Really... really, Jenny?... I expected so much more of you.

  • Jenny at 13: I'm the hero of this story, NOT the victim. They fell apart, I didn't.
