He regained his youth so that he would have time to complete his research. When he was young, he encountered love, but his lover was getting old. He realized that this new youth is not youth in the true sense. This youth is limited in various ways. Is it still youth? Inner quality, he cannot have the passion for life and feelings that belongs to youth. Once he tries to have it, retribution will follow.
Perhaps, everything was a joke that God played with him, using youth as bait. Youth without youth may come only to satisfy some rather singular need of God. Is it lucky or sad to have such youth?
It should be grief, because he can only succumb to a maxim that cannot be questioned.
