"All writers are egocentric, self-referenced, narcissistic and conceited" but an important tool for writing.
"Returning to my hometown with honor" is an idiotic dream after all. The literati wanted to reconcile with their hometown in their later years, but their souls chose to defect again. Because they have their own ideas.
At first I thought the movie was a satire of Kochi's arrogance, maybe they abused their authority, but in the details I found that the protagonist can be in common with the young intellectual, he is not really arrogant.
Literati is so fragile and vulnerable in barbarism, but culture and civilization can live forever. The ending of the story, the birth of another masterpiece by the writer has already made the film's position clear. The arsenic bullet is my source of inspiration, and I can master the power of holding a pen while I live.
Kochi needs reflection, but what the film is more ironic is the unreasonableness of power and politics (including power in the structure of villagers) to culture.
