The passing western town

The forgotten small town of Texas, full of wind and sand, is still a small society, unable to escape the same emotional entanglements, and unable to escape the depression after World War II and the influence of the Korean War.
Everyone in the town has their own emotional story, and the life they lead is related to everyone. It depends on whether you care about others' opinions. Young people symbolize the future of the town, playing football, desire for sex, going crazy in Mexico, hoping to release the omnipresent depression just like John Wayne in the western movie.
But the traditional town continued to slump. The beauty went to the big city Dallas. The traditional spirit of the town was the death of the Lion. No one liked to watch the movie theater. Sam's mentally retarded son was ruthlessly ignored. . .
It can be seen as a modern civilian version of the Western past, and through a group of young people, the contrast is stronger.

This is Cybill Shepherd's debut work, "dedicated" for art. She is the candidate for the election assistant
Jeff in Taxi's de niro pursuit. Bridges in his early 20s is no different from when he was an old man. The chin and the way of speaking make it clear that
Ben Johnson's acting is very charming.
Although the protagonist of Sunny is very good, it will not develop as well as Jeff Bridges in the future. Maybe the play is not wide enough.

On the one hand, they are yearning for the glory of the past, and on the other hand, they are struggling to break the stereotypes while being covered by the new era. History has always contributed to the flames of these two forces. There are few such conservative (the former) spokespersons who deeply feel "the former". "The emptiness at the end of the annihilation shows that there is nothing new under the sun, and now we have nowhere to talk about where to go.

The Last Picture Show quotes

  • Sonny Crawford: Say, I hear Duane joined the Army.

Genevieve: Good place for him too.

Sonny Crawford: Oh, he was just holding that bottle. He didn't mean to hit me with it.

Genevieve: That boy always had meaness in him. Of course, Jacy's just the kind of girl that brings out the meaness in a man. She's just like her grandmother. Oh, I hadn't ought to talk about them, anyhow. We was all good friends once. Dan roughnecked with Gene Farrow. He and Lois, they used to live in this little one-room place over the newspaper office. Lois couldn't afford a flour sack, much less a mink. I've always had a soft spot for her, though. Yeah, I wondered a lot of times what would've happened if Dan made the strikes that Gene made. They offered that rig to him first. Dan Morgan never took a chance in his life.

Sonny Crawford: Don't you wish y'all had made it?

Genevieve: Sure, I wish we made it.

  • Jacy Farrow: [Duane is having trouble "performing" with Jacy in a motel room] Just go on and do it! Oh! What's the matter with you?

    Duane Jackson: I don't know, I don't know... something's happened.

Jacy Farrow: Well, get off me a minute, for goodness sakes, you might fall down and mash me.

    [He does]

Duane Jackson: Well, I don't know what happened.

Jacy Farrow: [furious] It was Mexico! No tellin' *what* you got down there... I just hate you! I don't know why I ever went with you!

Duane Jackson: I don't know what happened.

Jacy Farrow: [exasperated] Well, put your clothes on, you think I wanna sit around here lookin' at you naked? I might've known you couldn't do it. Now I'll never get to not be a virgin. What'll we tell everybody? The whole class knows! I just want to cry! You're about the meanest boy I ever saw! My mama was dead right about you.

Duane Jackson: Well, I don't know what happened.

Jacy Farrow: Don't go out there! We haven't had time to do it. They'd know! I don't want one soul to know. You'd better not tell one soul!

    [picks up her clothes]

Jacy Farrow: You just pretend it was *wonderful*!

Duane Jackson: Well, I'm sorry, I don't know what happened.

Jacy Farrow: Oh! If you say that one more time, I'll *bite* you!
