"The Bizarre Journey of Young Speyway": Their on the road, our growth

This is not a story about gifted children, but a story about the growth of all children. TS is a genius, but like all other children, he has parental quarrels, his own distress, adolescent rebellious sister, and the tragedy of losing his brother. So this is a growth education film about family relationships, with the title "On the Road" written with the essence of family harmony.

The director is the director of "Angels Love Beauty". This film is really similar to "Angels Love Beauty". It is full of bright and saturated colors. The nervous performance of the little trick and the actors makes the American western farm look like France. The countryside is as romantic. The stall that sells hot dogs on the way is as glamorous as the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Many details remind me of "Budapest Hotel" and "Moonrise Kingdom". They are also childlike with a little cult, and extremely wonderful composition. However, the director obviously has no ambitions. He just wants to tell a story of family love, parental care, and self-healing after a family loses a loved one. At the end, there is a kind of "Big Fish"-like reversal warmth, but It stops here. I can’t help thinking that it’s right that the director didn’t shoot "The Fantasy Journey of the Youth Pie". If he did it, it might be a colorful travel film, and Ang Lee showed more of his worldview and post-story. Metaphors and different interpretation possibilities.

When everyone was a teenager, they wanted to take a long and endless train, as if the train represented their own growth, extending the dimension of time into space. I have taken a 48-hour train from Beijing to Lhasa, and I have also taken a hop-on hop-off Youth Pass train that travels around Europe for a month. In the middle of the night, the passengers next to me all fell asleep, listening to the train crossing the Alps. Boom booming, never ending, like the life I just started. TS's journey starts in Montana and ends in Washington, from the western mountains to the central plains, to Chicago and the red dust of the eastern highway, all the way to enjoy the magnificent mountains and rivers of the United States, very beautiful. In fact, this kind of railroad wagons in the United States drove very slowly. After crossing the Rocky Mountains, there is an endless cornfield (The Great Plains). Walking for a few days and nights, there may be nothing around it, which will suffocate people. So Americans would rather drive than take the train. Only whimsical and genius children like TS will feel that the journey is full of wonders.
