Few movies in this film discuss the topic of growth-neutrality and love from the perspective of women. Bel Powley successfully portrayed a bewildered girl in adolescence who desperately desires sex and has an eager expectation of love.
In the film, sex in Minnie's eyes is a breakthrough to enter the adult world. She is eager to get rid of her loneliness and predicament in her teenage years, and to explore her self-positioning and self-worth. But she also discovered the powerlessness and loneliness in the adult world in the process of constant exploration, which is worth thinking about.
The film is adapted from a comic novel, so it has also been caricatured in form. In this way, as a form of dialogue and communication between Minnie and herself, it may be better to retain the comic style. The director is bold and delicate, and his portrayal of the characters and the way of expression of the film language are commendable.
