A good reasoning story should allow the audience to get as many clues as possible, and still leave suspense, until the end can bring surprises.

Synopsis

The insurance company received a diamond as an underwriting product, but after inspection, they found that the diamond was fake.

The diamond came from a millionaire, and he also knew that diamonds would be inspected.

When something went wrong, the insurance company commissioned the great detective Poirot (played by Peter Ustinov) to investigate the matter.

Poirot found the owner of the diamond, Sir Bright, and was told that the diamond had been given to an actor named Alina.

After the two broke up, he asked for the diamond back, so she might have adjusted it.

So Sir Bright commissioned Poirot to go to the island to find Alina and get the diamond back.

Coming to the beautiful island, many people spend their holidays here.

Among them are writer Ricks, theater owner Odell and his wife Mara.

Young couple Christine and Patrick, Alina and her current husband Kenneth and his daughter Linda.

Poirot found that everyone seemed to have an unusual relationship with Alina.

For example, Ricks used Alina as a template to write a book that needs her permission before it can be published.

The theater owner took a script and hoped that Alina could agree to participate.

Patrick and Christine are at odds because of the unclear relationship between Patrick and Alina.

Even Linda was very dissatisfied with this stepmother, and Kenneth was helpless.

The peaceful island hides murderous intent, as if something is about to happen.

At noon that day, Patrick and Alina met in a tryst at the corner of the island, because they met Mrs. Mara on the way, so they stopped by.

When the boat reached the meeting place, they found Alina lying motionless on the beach.

Patrick got up and moved forward, only to find that she had no breath, and the mark on her neck should have been choked to death.

Soon after everyone arrived at the scene, Poirot found a small cave on the side.

There was a diamond on the ground in the cave. Poirot observed carefully and found that this diamond was the fake diamond he brought to Sir Brad.

Why did this diamond appear here, and who killed Alina...

Film Analysis

The film is the third part of the "Poirot Trilogy" adapted from the works of Agatha Christie. Compared with the first two "Tragedy on the Nile" and "Murder on the Orient Express", this film is relatively less famous. However, the setting of the case and the modus operandi are quite interesting. However, the style of the film is more entertaining. The suspenseful atmosphere is not as strong as the first two, but it has more of the feeling of letting the audience participate in the reasoning process. I believe some seniors Reasoning fans can get the approximate truth based on the clues given in the film.

The cast of the film is a bit inferior to the previous two films. Only Maggie Smith , the actor of the hotel proprietress Duffy, has ever won an Oscar. The role she played is also the most impressive in the film. However, the performances of other actors were also pretty good, especially Poirot's bloated figure and awkward posture during the swimming gestures were very cute.

The basic point of this case in the film is still Agatha's old routine, a group of people in a nearly confined space, one of whom has contact with everyone, so everyone has a motive for killing. But compared to Linnet, the heroine I once complained about in "The Tragedy on the Nile", the dead Alina in the film may be even more annoying.

Linnet seemingly high cold harsh, but in fact she did not do anything too much to do, but not the same as Alina, Duffy said she, "not only kick played worse than people, than others will also do the splits" , Here is the insinuation that she can betray her body in order to be famous. And her subsequent performance also proved that she is such a self-loving person, in front of her husband and other people's wives, and Patrick to molested, this also should be Duffy said, retribution will always come.

Playing with fire will cause self-immolation. It is a character like Alina that has fallen into the trap of the murderer, and thus loses her life. What is even more tragic is that when she passed away, everyone seemed to have nothing happened. This is the sin she committed during her lifetime. After hurting others, she will plant a seed of hatred in the other's heart. It will take root sooner or later. The crime in the sun does not only refer to this murder, but the victim himself is also a person who kills the happiness of others for his own entertainment in broad daylight?

Learning to love yourself is the basis for earning the respect of others. Don't let your happiness be based on hurting the dignity of others, otherwise you will end up reaping the consequences.

I like clothes and music very much, but You are the top, which is a bit pleasantly surprised. The plot is okay, I guessed some. But one shot that I personally feel impressed is the chubby Poirot wearing a black swimsuit and swimming shoes similar to Roman shoes? Stand in the water and pull the air with your hands and then go ashore and pretend to have finished the swim, hahahaha is so cute

I still like the old version of Poirot, with high IQ and no lack of humor. Granny’s novels are really treasures, even if they are adapted so horribly, they can fool the audience. The setting "Everyone can be a criminal" becomes more fascinating the more you think about it...

Evil Under the Sun quotes

  • Sir Horace Blatt: She's not gonna make a chump out of me.

  • Sir Horace Blatt: In three days' time she'll be down at Daphne's place for a little holiday. I'll give her a little holiday!

    Poirot: Daphne's place?

Sir Horace Blatt: Yes, you know, Daphne Castle. She was a mistress of the King of Tyrania for years, then when he upped and married the present queen he gave Daphne an old summer palace to keep her quiet. She's turned it into one of those exclusive la-di-da hotels where the nobs and nancies come to squawk at each other. I can't stand it meself, but she's good sort.
