On November 25, 2017, in Hall 5 of the Tennispalatsi Cinema in Helsinki, my friend Tomi T watched the English subtitled version.
The film is more than three hours long. It can be said that the rhythm is very "slow" and "boring", but it is this calm approach that is similar to realism, which well describes the cruelty of war.
The film mainly describes the stories of several Finnish soldiers during the 1941-1944 continued war. Continuation of war in history, the so-called Continuation War, or the necessity of Jatkosota and the impact of war, have long been criticized. Finland as a weak military country (yes, the Finnish military is still very weak, but who is not weak in Europe┐(゚~゚)┌) The spirit of resistance demonstrated in the war is very admirable.
At Christmas (1 hour 44 minutes) in the movie, the part of the soldiers in the trenches and Rönkka's family singing at home is "Maa on niin kaunis", which is about how beautiful the world is. That year, on December 24, 2017, when I was waiting for the train at Helsinki Central Railway Station, what was shown on the big screen of the station was a clip of "Unknown Soldier", and the background music was "Maa on niin kaunis". Peace is the eternal theme pursued by mankind.
However, I still want to cite another poem as an evaluation:
"If we don't go to war,
Bayonet
Killed us,
I also point to our bones and say:
"Look,
This is a slave! "
