The short version feels more compact and punchier. . .
The long version added several scenes, such as Aunt Mei visiting Mrs. Li's new home, Mr. Li found out that he was eating dumplings and found Aunt Mei secretly, and then followed Aunt Mei's XX. . . The ending also changed. . .
The short version does not seem to emphasize the hairy eggs in my impression. Although
there are not so many branches and leaves in the short version, the cross-narrative of Mrs. Li and Aunt Mei asking for evil and Aunt Mei helping a student girl to induce labor seems to be much faster-paced. . . The long version looks a little tired. . .
In the short version, Xiaosan doesn't have that many scenes at all. . . Leung Ka Fai's lengthened erotic scenes turned me off, I felt like a sex machine = =
I also liked the ending of the short version, Mrs. Lee was finally pregnant, but she ended up stabbing a wire into herself in the bathtub in vivo. . . This one is more shocking and desperate than the long version. . .
Anyway, watching the long version doesn't feel as good as watching the short version at the time. . . But I still like this movie very much, I can't forget it for a long time, and because this movie changed my impression of Bai Ling.
