It's better to sacrifice

I don’t know why, but Bresson always felt that something was wrong when he switched to color~~ Maybe the sense of form he requested would be out of date if placed in a modern fast-paced environment? !
The ending of this film makes people feel uncomfortable~maybe the expression of money is too straightforward. Money murdered everything! An accusation of money? I don't know since when did Bresson become so sad and angry?
Speaking of Cannes that year~ I think this one is really inferior to "Sacrifice".

    Bresson's most desperate film.

#重看# The cold and precise lens language perfectly fits the original text, and the partial close-up constitutes an abnormally oppressive rhythm. The richness of information outside the frame is breathtaking, and the narrative efficiency is extremely high. Forbearance of banal evil breeds violence, and truly interprets how the environment affects character. Human beings do not need emotional support anymore. Under the manipulation and coordination of the hand of fate, they are transformed into anti-human organisms. It is close to the donkey, and is involved with an innocent person, and a life or object reflects sentient beings.

L'Argent quotes

  • Yvon Targe: [to the guy who sent him to jail] You have me on your conscience. You have to answer for that now.

  • Yvon Targe: Wait. Everyone will be happy soon. I won't wait around for that. Believe me, it will bore us stupid. I want happiness now, on my terms.
