Look at "Stealing the Wire" again

The charm of art is that every time you look at it, you will have a different feeling. Different people have different feelings. The richer this feeling, the stronger the vitality of the artwork.

Last time I saw the meeting of the two masters, I was excited. I watched it again last night, and I have a new experience:

1. The rhythm
director unhurriedly unfolded according to his rhythm, making the film look very relaxing for a while, and for a very enthusiastic one, and so alternately. The soothing part is silent, which is a test of your patience, while the tense part is more and less chaotic, and the characters are clean and tidy. However, I still like the soothing of "Once Upon a Time in America", like unfolding a picture scroll, full of colors, sighing and sighing, I can't extricate myself from it. Or nervous and unrestrained as in "The Bourne".

2 Contrast
with the intense and fierce gunfight with bullets flying all over the sky, as well as family ethics, warmth and sweetness, not the model of handsome men and beautiful women paired with ordinary tough guy films, and strive for realistic family life: the encounter between the bandit and the girlfriend is in love; the wife and children of a few guys are supreme The police's family is always broken and helpless, the classic "You can't watch my little TV", the stepdaughter who committed suicide. The family is undoubtedly not just a secondary line, but an important part parallel to the main line of the big plot. Social problems are always cold and profound.

The bandits are all affectionate and righteous, and their wives and families are all manifestations of mainstream social values. The police had three failed marriages with no happiness at all. Whose life is successful? What kind of life is good? Want to go.

The image of the small person is full, in contrast, the protagonist's big name has no glamour.

3 At the end, it's really boring.

4 De Niro is very thin and he is suspected of being a drug addict here. He fascinates me when he is fat. This role did not play any role, just topped a fancy name.

Michael Mann’s night scenes are really amazing, and there is a reason to be selected as the textbook (now HD photography can help him even more). The ten-minute street shootout was so awesome, I just kneel down, and I've seen the most awkward bank grabbing paragraph so far. Not to mention how handsome the two uncles are, and so are Fang Jimo

It's not difficult to shoot a good shootout, but it's difficult to show complex humanity at the same time. Great, sympathize with the robber in the end.

Heat quotes

  • Vincent Hanna: [to Casals, after questioning Hugh Benny and offering her an immunity from prosecution deal to Charlene] Neal is still here I can feel it

    Detective Casals: for how long?

Vincent Hanna: seven, eight hours max

  • Eady: [referring to the bank robbery she saw on the news] what'd you do? That was you?

Neil McCauley: that's what I don't do. I don't sell metals, it would've been ok, flight out after, now it's "jammed" we gotta go together

Eady: [terrified and shocked, referring to Donald and Michael] those other people were with you?
