If we can notice that GRU in the film always succeeded in one thing when he was a child, and when he was proud to show his mother, his mother's noncommitment and a trace of disappointment flashed in his eyes, perhaps everyone would not easily come to such a conclusion. Even when he grew up to be a professional villain, building rockets and stealing the moon, he was actually fulfilling a childhood dream.
If his mother encouraged more than indifferent when he was young, will GRU have a different life? Was the driving force behind the "feats" he made in his career as a badass just to attract the attention of his mother? Isn't this something worthy of our recollection?
GRU has done so many things, but in the end he asked his mother to say the phrase "I deserve to be my son, maybe better than me" because he turned to be a super dad so ordinary and even a little awkward.
What kind of things are worth following and practicing? This is the theme of this film in my eyes.
