Chinatown

I was preconceived by the praises on the Internet before I watched it, which caused me not to understand why so many people praised it after reading it. The script of this movie is a must-study script for the film school. The whole movie is in a dark and cold tone, and the connection bureau is also so dark to death. I admit that it has exposed the darkness of society to a certain extent, and many repetitions and foreshadowings make people clapped and surprised.

However, the rhythm of the beginning of the movie is too slow, which makes people drowsy, which leads to the lack of cohesion with the rest. Although the director did not live up to his fame in the last ten minutes, he persuaded him to leave at the beginning.

And if you analyze this story that was blown to the top by McGee alone, you will find that it is just a wonderful detective story. This kind of story is everywhere in the Complete Detective Sherlock Holmes. It caused me to see a lot of hints and foreshadowings when I watched it. Finally, I have to say something that I didn't think of. It should be the miserable experience of the heroine and the final outcome.

I think what should really be praised is the director’s lens language (but I think it’s lost to "The Godfather" for granted), smooth fighting scenes, and the movement of the whole lens is not advanced, but it gives people a comfortable feeling. Many peeping shots made me feel the horror of Hitchcock. This film also uses a lot of close-up shots to create the atmosphere, especially to the end of the back, the whole process is high-powered, and even let me see one or two wonderful transitions.

To sum up, "Chinatown" is indeed good, and its theme and audiovisual language are both desirable. But I warn you not to watch the story with too high expectations. The wonderful story nearly 100 years ago is still nothing.

The horror cycle of Chinatown. Before the story, Jack lost his lover once in Alameda Street. At the end of the story, he lost again; sister=daughter’s dark setting; the dialogue scene at 110 minutes was written too much Well, after reading Polanski’s third draft script, from the inside to the outside, the inner drama of the characters is shown in the script without any detail, and only a few dialogues on the screen retell the whole story.

The big screen has doubled the favorability, and the charming old-school detective novels and film noir styles are awkward; starting from family conflicts, accompanied by the lazy saxophone, he unhurriedly pushes his vision to the greedy and unscrupulous society On the dark side, the cocoon is endless, and finally returns to the family tragedy. The script is precise in detail and easy to retract; it is a desperate world, but it jumps out of the depression and gloom, speaks with its own chivalry, long and fascinating

Chinatown quotes

  • Noah Cross: Who's the investigating officer?

Jake Gittes: Lou Escobar -- he's a Lieutenant.

Noah Cross: Do you know him?

    Jake Gittes: Oh, yeah.

    Noah Cross: Where from?

Jake Gittes: We used to work together - in Chinatown.

Noah Cross: Would you call him a capable man?

    Jake Gittes: Very.

    Noah Cross: Honest?

Jake Gittes: As far as it goes; of course, he has to swim in the same water we all do.

  • Noah Cross: It disturbs me. It makes me think you're taking my daughter for a ride - financially speaking, of course. What are you charging her?

Jake Gittes: My usual fee - plus a bonus if I get results.

Noah Cross: Are you - sleeping with her? Come, come, Mr. Gittes, you don't have to think about that to remember, do you?

Jake Gittes: If you want an answer to that question, Mr. Cross, I'll put one of my men on the job.
