border town

The director seems to be trying to use documentary footage and photography to illustrate the reality of the characters in the town.

Talk about a few impressive paragraphs.

1 At the beginning, there were two cat-killing youths.
Not with the emotion of caring for animals.
They just rely on the extreme method of killing cats to earn wages.

When the same cat-killing opponent appeared,
they became sensitive.
No negative action was taken against their opponent, such as blasting his head with a gun.

Because the opponent confessed that they only kill cats at night, they are during the day, so they are very tolerant without conflict.
When they realize that their opponent's actions endanger them even during the day, they break into their opponent's home.
The older one found the opponent's grandmother, who has lost consciousness to keep the machine alive.
The older child thinks that the old man is long dead. So turn off the opponent's grandmother's survival machine.

It looks cruel, but it's okay to think about it.
The inanimate are dead. There is no point in living.
They left a life-testing bullet in the old man's foot as they left.

2 The two bought very few supplies with the money they got from killing the cat, and spent most of their time in a sloppy and free time. The only pastime is to go to a middle-aged man's house and fuck his fat relatives (don't know how the two are related).

To my surprise, the prostitutes are neat, fat girls with serious and funny heavy makeup.
But the smile is pure.
Apparently the younger boy was in love. He only smiled in front of the fat woman.
He was also very concerned about what the fat woman said to him that he was too thin.

3 has a supporting role in it. A black freak.
At first, I felt a little unacceptable in my heart. When this black man said he was gay and patiently comforted the drunk man, but did not accept his drunken sexual demands, I felt that the personality of this deformed man was improved in front of us. (Haha, that's hilarious here)
He's starting to seem more human than anyone else in town.
At a later party, he wrestled an arm wrestling with a super strong guy, and he won easily.
The strong man behaved very uneducated and began to insult.
The power of black freaks is on display once again.
People who are physically disabled are healthy and strong from the inside.

4 The
director of the section where he was taking a mud bath and eating noodles in the bathtub was simply too awesome. Awesome.
The photography is also awesome...I
really don't know how the director came up with it.
Such a mother's caring life for her son manifests itself in an alternative way before us.
So we know one side of the life of how this child grew up.
His unrestrained and emotionally closed (faceless, only showing his heart in front of the girl he loves).

Mom bought her son a 1 pound promotion chocolate. The son hardly communicates with her.
But happy to eat, this is the expression of the full emotional exchange between mother and son.

The twins who sold a pound of chocolate made a lot of money in town, more than they made from killing cats.

5 They didn't kill the neighbor's pretty black cat.
When they found out that the cat was later killed by their opponents, they fired countless bullets at the black cat's corpse without emotion.

I feel like it's a cold rage.

6 Tornadoes devastated the town, bringing death and despair. The town, which was not very angry, was plunged into hell. The meaning of the influence of death frequently appears in the latter part of the film. Maybe the director wants to explain that the town itself is in a state of death, like the old man, maintaining it with a superficial phenomenon.
And the tornado flipped the switch on the machine that kept the town alive.

7 The only free boy here, who seems to have nothing to do with his life in the town,
can always get his toys. Even being robbed can be followed.
He and the eyebrowless blond sisters kissed each other excitedly in the rain.
He is happiest. He is most comfortable. His casualness is simply dashing.

8 In the end, the young rabbit raised the black cat corpse, as if to hold the reality in front of you, you must face it. Must know. Even if you don't want to.

Almost all the people in this town are on the fringes, there are a lot of gays and sex offenders. None of them expressed dissatisfaction with life in the town, nor did they feel happy. No one has the desire to leave, no move to end this rambling, hopeless life. It is only natural that he lives in the town in a negative state. until destroyed.

Gummo quotes

  • Eddie: I take Ritalin, this kind of prescription drug. It's not like a drug that fucks you up. If anything, it makes you normal.

  • Tummler: I'm pretty smart, if I say so myself.

    Huntz: Why is that?

Tummler: This afternoon, we walked into a fruit store, and the clerk thinks I'm some out-of-town hick. "Those apples will be two bucks each," he tells me. That's where I outsmarted him. I pass over a five. And as he's about to give me a dollar change, I say, "Keep it, we're even. On the way in, I stepped on a grape."
