Faith Like Potatoes

I think the best part of this film lies in the two prayers he made in order to save people's lives.

The first prayer is that when the hero first believed in the Lord, there was a thunderstorm there and an African woman was struck to death by lightning. , her companions remembered that the hero's god is very powerful, and they asked him to pray in a panic. It was the first time he experienced such a request, and he didn't know what to do, so he prayed for the woman and resurrected her in the name of the Lord Jesus. Sure enough, she was resurrected, and the hero's God once again made a powerful testimony.

The second prayer is that the hero confidently rents a football field to hold a prayer meeting in order to solve the local drought and violence. When all was well and he was spiritual himself, he accidentally dropped his nephew from the tractor. The cute boy who had been singing in his arms at the last moment is now lying on the ground, full of blood donations. In the emergency room, the hero, who was also covered in blood, used his last strength to pray to Jesus, asking God to let his nephew come back to life. If we said that the prayer in the previous incident was a co-worker with the Lord, an authoritative and powerful prayer, then this time it was crying and begging bitterly. But the miracle did not happen again, and his nephew could not be saved and left them.

There seem to be two gods here. The god in the first prayer is so powerful, so kind, and so merciful, which we often read in the Bible. For example, Jesus resurrected Lazarus, the disciple of Jesus. It can also be resurrected. This is in line with all the attributes of our God, who is omnipotent, who listens to people's prayers, and who cares about people. We were told about such a God in the church, in books, and in stories, but very few people have actually experienced the resurrection of the dead, let alone experienced it themselves, even if they just heard about such a God Witness, tremble and fear. The God in the second prayer seems a little indifferent, showing no miracles to those who love him, as if unable to understand the pain of their bereavement. But the truth is that most of the time in my life experience or that of many Christians, what I feel is the second God, otherwise so many people (including Christians) would not have died, so many misfortunes, then So much suffering, so much disappointment. I think when Nick Huzhe prayed to God to grow limbs, when parents prayed for life for their seriously ill sons, and when children prayed for health for their sick parents, what they experienced was a second God, and God did not follow our way. Meaning, give us the realization, even if what we ask for is not too much.

However, it is obviously not two gods, but one god. How can you feel the loving God depicted in the Bible from the indifferent God? How can it bring real comfort to the heart of the bereaved. How can we continue to believe in God in the midst of suffering?

I thought the male protagonist would feel that his previous experiences were all irony, that he would give up God because the pain was too deep, or be a Christian who didn't have that much faith. What surprises me is that he didn't, he certainly experienced pain, he was heartbroken, he growled, he was angry, he cried, he blamed himself, but in the end his heart chose to accept comfort, not because he had no other way out Only passively accepted the comfort, he really accepted the comfort, and even he was encouraged by the death of his nephew, he was convinced that his nephew was unwilling to come back. He immediately plunged into preparations for a large prayer meeting, and he confidently prayed for a good harvest amid the drought.

For this family, losing this little boy is undoubtedly painful and regrettable, because he can no longer accompany his growth, can no longer enjoy his childhood, and he seems to no longer know the joys, sorrows and sorrows of this family. No longer go through the dribs and drabs of ordinary life together. 'Job's three friends' also appeared around them, the sister who had led them to church in the first place, met the hero's wife on the street and asked, 'Why don't you pray? Doesn't he believe in God very much? The power of faith is very powerful, why not pray? Is it because of lack of trust? 'How can I explain to her that there is suffering in this world, that there is death? Is there death even in those who believe? Christians can get sick, they can get cancer, and they can get sick and die without sin. Limbs are not grown, the dead are not raised, and the sick are not healed, probably not because of lack of faith.

Some people say that some Christians have too little faith to accept miracles. Others say that too much preaching of miracles is poisoning our faith and inducing prosperity theology. I believe both statements have their own merits, because for an incorrect person and an incorrect heart, nothing is right. Having the right mind and mastering this balance is the most important thing. Therefore, I recommend this film, because it does not simply talk about all success, all smoothness, and all resurrection of the dead, nor does it simply talk about suffering or patience, it talks about the real life of a Christian, there is suffering , accompanied by miracles.
