Ben-Hur (1959)
Director: William Wyler
Writers: Lew Wallace (novel) (as General Lew Wallace), Karl Tunberg
Stars: Charlton Heston, Jack Hawkins, Stephen Boyd

This movie is often said to be watched , but too late Haven't seen it yet.
The dvd has been at home for four years...

"Ben-Hur is a scene" reminds me of what my elders often said when I was a child, and only now do I know that
such a movie could be made in 1959 without any computer stunts. It was very able to satisfy the audience at that time, so Oscar won many awards and technical awards for this movie that year.

If you like watching old movies but haven't seen them yet, it's worth watching, but what about the estimated time... The movie is about three and a half hours long.

Synopsis
A story of revenge and religion.

Extended Reading

In 1959, when there were no special effects, that horse race was no less than computer-made in the 21st century, or even more thrilling because it was known to be absolutely real. 3 1/2 hour long novel.. mark first.

    9. I didn't take a few directing lessons in my freshman year, so the teacher showed us the part of the Ben-Hur racecar. Three and a half hours is not long at all, and it really lives up to its reputation. The only downside is that the blood is too fake.

Ben-Hur quotes

  • Judah Ben-Hur: What has become of my mother and my sister?

Messala: It is not my duty to keep track of prisoners.

Judah Ben-Hur: Find them, Messala. Restore them to me and I will forget what I vowed with every stroke of that oar you chained me to.

Messala: I am not the governor of Judea. I can do nothing without Gratus' approval.

Judah Ben-Hur: Then get it! I will come back tomorrow. Don't disappoint me, Messala.

    [he leaves]

    Messala: What became of them?

Drusus: It's been almost five years. Do you suppose they're still alive?

Messala: Go to the citadel, Drusus. Find out.

    Drusus: And if they're dead?

    Messala: They're dead!

  • Esther: It was Judah Ben-Hur I loved. What has become of him? You seem to be now the very thing you set out to destroy. Giving evil for evil. Hatred is turning you to stone. It's as though you had become Messala.
