regeneration

He really didn't know what he could do and what he should do. Nine years of living outside made him a person far away from his hometown and heart. The medication taken, the vagueness and guilt of the mother and the memories. I believe Andrew has always been such a dull and slow person. He has been tortured by his own mistakes for a long time. Then he chose to escape everything, locked himself out of defense, locked out of a strong city, no one cared, and there was no way to save him. Until he returned home, he had no tears in his mother's funeral. Not because he is not sad, but because that isolation has made him lose the ability and courage to grieve.

Sam is a lovely girl who speaks very fast. Raise a lot of pets, dogs, goldfish, hamsters... She is kind, but she seems to suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder and often lies. I have always thought that people who lie unconsciously are actually people who are insecure in their hearts. They have to rely on lying to build a strong barrier and protect themselves. Sam said that when she felt regret, she would tell the truth. That time should be when she already felt safe, to take off guard, to be happy, and to begin to believe in others. I like this girl. I like it inexplicably. When she made faces, when she tapped, when she yelled, when she was skating in a crocodile suit, when she was crying in the phone booth. She is naughty, and she has the power to save others. The scene in the crocodile suit is very funny, her performance is so good, but she is trapped in a falsehood. This is a great fusion with the film itself.

The film is nothing more than telling how these two young people get along and get rid of years of spiritual ties. Andrew can live again, face himself, face his father and his dead mother. Face the whole world. No longer feel hesitant and helpless. Although at the end of the film he looked at Sam and asked her what she should do. This is almost the same problem as at the beginning. But what he saw in his eyes was no longer the young man who was dull and hopeless in a Vietnamese restaurant. They have been to that abyss, and then poured out everything to tell their rebirth and change.

I really like the plot in the bathtub. It is no longer a vulgar love scene, but just two pure hearts, hugging each other. The sense of security he felt. It may be unprecedentedly strong. So that I can feel it. He can finally start again.

It is not easy to find something worth holding on, and feel guilty about a relationship. There is a sense of shame about the past that I dare not face it and choose to avoid it. After a long time, even myself slowly forgot. Forget everything, and also forget who you are. Everyone will have the confusion about life when they are young. So we always want to grasp something, everything is good, meaningful and meaningless are good. Whether people are good or things, they try to fight in this way, or search for the most suitable way in this way. Some people choose to stay at the other end of their lives and put themselves aside. They may not be brave, but not prepared. Andrew may be such a person.

The movie is very good. Light. It also seems to be painful. To the desolate person, it seems like a rebirth.

  • Andrew Largeman: Place looks good.

Gideon Largeman: Oh, that's nice. Yeah, we've been doing a lot of work on it.

    Andrew Largeman: Really?

Gideon Largeman: Actually, no. I don't know why I just said that.
