The interweaving of three stories makes for an impossible sexual relationship

Let me tell you three stories first. Story 1, Magwitch was manipulated by Compeyson, participated in the plot to deceive and abandoned the wealthy Miss Havisham, and later encountered Compeyson in the clothes of transporting criminals. He tried to assassinate Compeyson unsuccessfully, so he absconded, and encountered a young Pip from a blacksmith shop. his food and tools.

In the second story, a heartbroken Miss Havisham took in Magwithch's daughter, Estell, and raised her into a ruthless, vengeful, emotionless woman. Pip was invited by Miss Havisham to perform for her, and when she met Estell, she fell in love at first sight, and Estell became a part of his life ever since.

Story 3, Magwich later gained wealth and wanted to repay Pip, who helped him before, to help him come to London and become a gentleman. At the mercy of Miss Havisham, Estell played with Pip's feelings and fell into an unhappy marriage, hurting each other with her husband.

The three stories can be said to be the subject, language and object of the whole film. The subject and the object constitute epistemology, and the subject determines the relationship between the object. The second story provides the possibility for the relationship between subject and object. Pip's kindness is the reason why he entered the upper class in the future, so it becomes possible to become the first story/subject and the third story/object to have a relationship .

First of all, in the upper-class society at that time, only the deception and manipulation of the social relationship/signifier system existed. As the subject, in this intriguing society, it was just a straw in the whirlpool, and the subject could not decide his own emotions and destiny. Whether it is the rich and wealthy girl Miss Havisham, the famous lawyer Jagger in London, or the Magwitch of the lower society, his daughter Es tell, or the Pip of the blacksmith shop, they are all victims of unmanipulated but repeated fate. It is helpless to follow the rules of the operation of the upper class, involuntarily. But they all have their own hedonic drives. Miss Havisham owns huge wealth, but falls victim to money. Wealth is the source of her misfortune, but it is also the capital of manipulating others, which is the root of the whole story.

Secondly, the male protagonist and the female protagonist are both victims and pawns of the relationship network of the upper class, and the relationship between the two people has been misplaced from the beginning. Estell's destiny from the very beginning was to gain the attention of the aristocratic society with her beauty and upbringing, so as to realize the pleasure of Miss Havisham's revenge. It can be said that her life has been affirmed and given value to the aristocratic family from the very beginning. Pip was born in a poor family, and later, although he received funding from Magwitch, he fell into Havisham's layout. One is to become a man's desire object; the other is an infatuated teenager who dreams of crossing classes for the illusory love. Women want to be men's desires for pleasure, and men want women to satisfy their fantasies. The impossibility of this relationship is doomed. The impossibility of sexual relations drives the whole story: Miss Havisham is abandoned in church, and Pip is told the truth by Estell's heartless pride. The perfect ending of the story is only possible after the damage is done and everything is settled.

Thanks to Charles Dickens for writing a good novel and guaranteeing the plot, but the film adaptation was a failure, the satire of the upper class was sometimes pale and ridiculous, and the love scene was unconvincing. In terms of performance, Ralph Fiennes, Helena No matter how hard Bonham Carter and several British dramas worked hard to get extra points, they couldn't equal the points deducted by many young actors. The extra points for scenes and makeup were deducted from the overall situation.

The movie was actually done pretty well. When Uncle La came out, he compared everyone else... I still need to read the text for the depth.
