A typical "Chinese in the eyes of Americans". I feel that the images of the protagonists are very different from those of the Chinese (or Taiwanese, China), and their expressions, behaviors, and ways of thinking are not East Asian images in the traditional sense. The introduction said that the generation of husband and wife was immigrants from Taiwan, and I felt that the generation of husband and wife was more like a native-born Chinese American.

However, the show can somewhat reflect the image of Chinese Americans in the minds of Americans. Also worth seeing.

I read it when it first came out. The immigration story from the perspective of Taiwanese Chinese in the 1990s is still very interesting now. Breaking stereotypes with stereotyped prejudice, the whole is still very American spirit, maybe it is precisely because of the similar faces, many people in the barrage comment always forget that this is a period drama + autobiography, I guess it is quite unacceptable to self-deprecating , after all, some are really cruel
