The story tells the story of what happened between the hero Innmen and the heroine Ada, who were separated due to the Civil War until they reunited. Throughout the process, their love for each other was the belief they held fast.
The Innmen's comrades died on the battlefield, and he himself was shot and wounded. When he was lost and miserable, it was Ada's letter that rescued him and woke him up, so he resolutely decided to return to Cold Mountain and sneak back to his hometown at the risk of being executed. On that long and hard journey, Ada was all he believed in.
On the other hand, after Innmen left, Ada's family suffered a change. The death of her father and the war made all the family's industries come to nothing. Ada lost all her support and her life was not guaranteed. But in order to wait for the reunion with Innmen, she chose to stay, to fight with life and become a strong woman. Of course, the support of her companion Rudy is indispensable, but her love for Innmen is the fundamental strength to support her.
But what touched me the most was the conversation after their reunion. Ada doesn't know how to accept Innmen, because she doesn't understand that after a few days of acquaintance with Innmen, she and Innmen have been separated for a few years. Whether her feelings for Innmen are a fantasy or an unforgettable love, she doesn't know for many years Is there any point in waiting. Innmen's answer is moving, he said, they are not meaningless, they are like diamonds in a bag, the bits and pieces we get along with, shining intoxicating light in the deepest part of the soul. I had to be moved by it. A short acquaintance, a long separation, a long wait, and a hard wait, but sincere feelings will not fade or disappear under the erosion of time, on the contrary, they will be washed and polished into the most brilliant diamonds.
There's another episode that really struck me. On the way back home, Innmen stayed at the house of a young woman. The young woman's husband died in the war, and she was alone with the baby. At night, the young woman begged Innmen to sleep beside her, but just lay quietly beside her. The young woman couldn't restrain her grief and leaned on Innmen's chest and wept deeply. Obviously, the young woman who lost her husband is sad and lonely. She has to bear too much, such as the child who is waiting to be fed, so she needs a shoulder to carry her bitter tears, and she longs for a warm chest to give her some comfort. She was deceiving herself, talking to temporarily soothe her aching heart. This plot reflects the misery of the war-torn era. With the husband outside, his life and death are uncertain, how many people in the boudoir have already lost their way to the end of the world!
This film depicts the truth and beauty, hurt and pain of human nature with delicate brushstrokes. Covered the volume of thoughts for a long time difficult to calm down. . .

Cold Mountain quotes

  • Stobrod: I wrote several tunes with you in mind - Ruby this, Ruby that, Ruby with the eyes that sparkle.

Ruby: Hey, let's agree. You beat me, you abandoned me, you ignored me, and yet you beat me some more. And all that's better than Ruby with eyes that sparkle.

  • Inman: I imagine God is weary of being called down on both sides of an argument.
