I'm not who I want to be

What is the greatest tragedy in life? Is it a young man who lost his father, a middle-aged widow, and an old man who lost his son? Is it love but not, or life must be dead?
From the tragedy of ancient Greece, we have been told: "The tragedy of mankind lies in the desire for a good life and has to go to its opposite, in not wanting to do evil but compelled to do evil, in the extreme fear of death and compelled to fall into it. The abyss."
Is this "have to" social influence? Is it caused by others? Or is it determined by fate? Or is it our own choice?
Jude had a lofty ideal since he was a child: he was going to go to college, he was going to be a professor.
Although he could only become a mason later, he also wanted to be the mason who could speak Latin.
Jude is equally brave in pursuit of love.
Although because of youthful desire, he married a woman he did not love.
Although what he loves happens to be his cousin - someone else's wife. But even if they don't get married, they have to be together.
It is such a good young man with ideals and pursuits, but he is always one step away from the person he wants to become.
He left his hometown and came to the university town he admired. He looked at the people wearing degree caps and said desperately in his heart: I want to be one of them.
But he has never been such a person.
He loves Sook for her independence, her rebellion, her mind and heart. They bravely fell in love with each other regardless of their husbands and wives, religion and laws. How precious and how joyous. But it was precisely because of these advantages that she made him fall in love that she was unwilling to hide the fact that they were not married, and they could only lose their jobs and wander around. Although he insisted: We are more like husband and wife than any other couple in this world, but they are not husband and wife after all.
He also loves his children and he wants to be a good father. But his son also wanted to be a good son, a good kid who killed himself to lighten the burden on his parents.
How can we become who we want to be? I have no idea.
But I know that tragedy happens when we are not who we want to be.
If Jude was the country man who just wanted to hit stones, kill pigs, and find a woman to marry, just who he was, maybe there wouldn't be this tragedy.
Hardy's novels are more desperate than the movies. His desperation was that Jude was actually going to be who he wanted to be, but it was only going to be forever.
Therefore, "words kill people".
Thought kills.

Why do I have to put myself so heavy every night. . . The story is a good story, the actor is a good actor, the soundtrack is super beautiful, and the director is the director. . Well, it should be full marks for a change of director!

Looking down from a window in the church, the snow scene in two places is desolate

Jude quotes

  • Sue: I would have liked to have talked with her before she died.

Jude Fawley: She would have enjoyed that.

    Sue: What did she say?

Jude Fawley: She said we both made bad husbands and wives

  • Sue: Do I irritate you?

    Jude Fawley: No.

Sue: Even though I'm always trying to prove how much cleverer than you I am.

    Jude Fawley: You are!

    Sue: Don't say that!

    Jude Fawley: Why not?

Sue: Because it's not the sort of thing you should admit to!

Jude Fawley: Even if it's true?
