"Battle of Midway"
"From ancient times to the present, it is certainly the big men who have driven history forward, but at some of the most critical nodes, it is often the little men who control the wind and rain." - "United Fleet"
I went to the movie theater alone to watch this movie. The movie was long, and there were not many people in the movie theater. Throughout the movie, they were discussing about the history during World War II. Although it is a bit loud, it is not annoying, probably because I am also interested in these. The movie is good overall, and the style of the painting is relatively full of age. From the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor to the Midway War, it's just that the foreshadowing is too long for the name of the movie.
There is no direct criticism of Japan's behavior, and malicious vilification of the Japanese nation. Instead, through the cooperation of the navy and the pilots, careful planning, and courageous operations, to present what happened in history.
The movie uses the perspectives of many characters, not only the protagonist, but also many small characters. These pieces are used to connect the whole movie. There is not too much expression and promotion of personal heroism, and there is not too much depiction of the brutal and bloody scenes in the war. Instead, the pilot's farewell to his wife is used to start the story.
The U.S. Navy and American pilots in the movie are all flesh and blood, brave and fearless. Similarly, the Japanese army in the movie is the same. They are equally brave and have the same fighting spirit. The film does not have an exaggerated anti-Japanese plot, but meticulous planning and layout everywhere, and meticulous and rigorous information transmission time and time again. This can also be regarded as the gap between domestic anti-Japanese dramas and theirs.
Pilots use their own bodies to complete their missions and obtain a future for the country, which is worthy of praise, "the sea will always remember".
Very soft, without strong expression, the director expresses his attitude towards war, history, and the future and peace in a gentle way. And we all understand that war hurts people in any country.
