out of the past, into the future

It turns out that it is possible to have no past.
It never occurred to me that a person who has lost his memory, even if he can't find the past again, can start his life again.

Finnish cinema has a uniquely light melancholy, not intense or pretentious.
Probably because of the Nordic climate, people are very restrained, and the way they express their feelings is also a bit cute.
Just like when M and Irma express their feelings, although blunt, it really reflects the character of the Finns.
Silently giving without expecting anything in return, not forcing, not forcing, Irma is a good woman. Charity has love, as if it is the patron saint of M's life.
The charity that Irma has set up has left a deep impression on me. Clothes, food, and then M's mention of providing spiritual food for those displaced. When I saw them dancing to the music, or intoxicated with the singer's moving timbre, I actually had an inexplicable yearning, because there, even if there was no clothing or food, there would still be Having the right to enjoy music is actually a right that everyone living in the world should have.

Now, let's talk about Mr. M.
His life was lived twice, no, exactly, he had two lives.
It all started with the train, which nearly killed him. Perhaps, the tenacious vitality is the hint of his hope for life in the future. God not only gave him the right to go on living, but another life. So maybe, in a sense, he's still happy.
Although there was also a sense of fear that could not be confirmed in the past, but miraculously, he quickly got out of the haze and started a new life that he should have.
Getting along with the police, the puppies, the 'nearest neighbors' in the litter box, Iram, people helped by charities gave him another insight into life. From the beginning of the pursuit of the past, slowly, to the perception of the present, a person's vitality continues in this way.
He may understand that even if he no longer knows his name and his past, life can be lived colorfully.
So when he was told about his past, that he had a wife and finally found his past, M didn't seem to have the joy he imagined.
He went home in a hurry, ended everything in his past, and took the same train again, but the difference was that he who got off the train this time was a brand new him.

What the film is trying to convey, I can't say exactly. But I began to understand that the past is like a jar of old wine to us. Wine is our treasure, and we like to take it out from time to time to play with it and remind ourselves: I used to have it. However, no matter how rich and sweet the smell, at best, it will only get you drunk for the night. Without this jar of wine, perhaps the sense of ownership will be gone, and there will no longer be the right to indulge in it, but so what? Wouldn't it be a better attitude to open our hands, seize the present, and create the future as if we never had it.

In the end, what makes me linger endlessly is the Finnish music with a little Russian style in the film.
In the singing, you can feel the warm heart in this cold and cold country.

@小西天. A relatively lighthearted installment of the failure trilogy. Losing one's identity and losing one's name naturally means losing one's position in a structured modern society. But returning to the purely human level is still an opportunity for rebirth. We were really relieved to find it back in the past, but then we discovered that even if we couldn't find it, so what? More healing than love, of course, is the unity of the proletarians of the world. No, you don't need the whole world, just the ones around you.
