For you, 10,000 times

What made a cowardly rich man who only dared to turn his head and run away when he saw his best friend being humiliated in front of him, entered the devastated Afghanistan alone under the terrorist rule of the Taliban many years later, faced the same bastard before, and finally rescued his only nephew home?
When the situation became more and more dangerous, and the situation became more and more difficult, there were many times when he could let go and get out of it - he was just a normal person with no strength.
But he never escaped.

At the very beginning, he was not smart enough to respond to that Hazara boy's purest friendship in the world, who never turned his back on him, no matter it was the little kite, the sudden accusation, and later their family's old house. Even though he had been betrayed by him, he still held the most precious feelings for him as always.
Until the end, he said to his best friend's only remaining son, "10,000 times for you", then turned and ran, just as the child's father said to him and did it for him when he was a child , give all, extremely sincere.
I think that at that time, it was not only the silent kid who had suffered psychological trauma, but also himself.

I love how these details are echoed and confirmed over and over again, just like when he was dying, the son of an old friend used the birthday gift he gave Hassan to shoot out the blood of Assef decades ago for his innocent dead dad. The bullet, like the note, saved both of their lives.

This is a long period of repentance and redemption that spanned decades, filled with extraordinary courage and love because it was placed in this special region of Afghanistan.
More importantly, the film draws people's attention to Afghanistan and wants to know what's really going on in this land and what they can do to help.

Attachment: The scene in the film is not the real Afghanistan, but Kashgar, Xinjiang, China.

The last sentence for you, thousands of times, made me cry. But I feel that the part of the orphanage was propped up by dialogue, lacking a tension of forbearance. The protagonist's growth and changes are lacking in explanation, and they cannot be continued emotionally.

The Kite Runner quotes

  • Baba: [regarding the mullahs, who teach that drinking alcohol is a sin] I piss on the beards of all those self-righteous monkeys.

  • Amir: [explaining Sohrab's presence] You see, General Sahib, my father slept with his servant's wife, and she bore him a son named Hassan. Hassan is dead now. That boy sleeping in the other room is Hassan's son. He's my nephew. That's what you tell people when they ask. And one more thing, General Sahib: you will never again refer to him as "a Hazara boy" in my presence. He has a name, and it's Sohrab.
