he dances in the sky

The film chronicles the story of a French acrobat walking a tightrope between the World Trade Center buildings in the United States. The hero of the film is Philip, the founder of the film. The historical facts and materials left as a documentary are relatively small. They are all through a large number of black and white photos and the memories of the people who participated in the incident. Those black and white photos let us see Philip's growth, and also see Philip's graceful dance in the air at the end, and those character interview dialogues also bring us back to the 1970s.

The World Trade Center was not completed in 1974, and certainly did not experience the destruction of 9/11. Philip decides to pull a steel wire between the two buildings, decides to complete a dance in the air, perhaps this is a childhood dream. Although it is a documentary, it is not very boring. Because of this kind of innovation, the audience will have a lot of curiosity. How did they infiltrate the World Trade Center to understand the situation of the building, and how did they move a large number of tools into the World Trade Center at night? The series of questions about tying a steel cable between two buildings fascinated us. The movie is as wonderful as a documentary version of "The Day and the Day".

It is impossible for Philip to accomplish such a feat alone, not only because of his superb tightrope walking skills, but also with the help of his friends and lovers around him. But when Philip finally succeeded in standing in the two World Trade Buildings, his friends and lovers left him. There were many specific reasons. He always felt that when an impossible task was completed, everyone's friendship and love came to an end. However, when each participant recalled this memory, everyone was quite excited. It was really a blessing that there was no blank space in the impulsive years of youth. Tears welled up.

Man on Wire quotes

  • Sgt Charles Daniels: ...I observed the tight rope dancer... because you couldn't call him a walker... approximately half-way between the two towers. I personally figured I was watching something that somebody else would never see again in the world. Thought it was once in a lifetime.

  • Philippe Petit: As a child, I loved to climb everywhere. I'll let the psychiatrists decide why. Maybe I wanted to escape my time. Maybe I wanted to see the world from a different perspective and I was an explorer at heart. Who knows and who cares? But I was a little climber. And nobody, not my parents, not the teachers, nobody could stop me.
