Just before the ominous picture in the bathroom, Sid and Lucy meet. These are the two heroines of the film who, by chance, live on the upper and lower floors of the same apartment building. Lucy, a female photographer who has retired for ten years, and her German lover Greda Krauss, the former female star in Fassbender's films, live a low-key and peaceful seclusion life in New York.
