The structure is a bit procrastinated, and the morality is a bit ambiguous

"Life is a Miracle" is a good movie, but compared with the self-contained and natural nature of the masterpiece "Underground", this film is obviously not compact enough, and the plot is a bit procrastinated. Although the viewing process is full of excitement and pleasure, and it is not lengthy at all, it is made up of some unrelated jokes, which are somewhat like Zhao Benshan's sketches in recent years.
In order to express the untimely love, the director spent a lot of pen and ink to describe the relationship between the two. Of course, under the cover of the actress' innocence and beauty, the audience won't get bored. The consequence of depicting the relationship is that the theme of family affection that the film has been focusing on before has been completely destroyed, and the theme of the film has changed. Maybe the director wants to explain that this is multiple themes and constructs a complex reality. Unfortunately, this film is not an epic, and multiple themes do not mean that one theme is expressed before another theme, but that many themes are combined into a whole. As for reality - it's a bit extravagant to talk about the complexities of reality in a film full of fairy tales and magical plots?
Therefore, the structure of the film presents a three-stage formula: family - love - family. Family is balanced, love is unbalanced, so the three-part is balanced-unbalanced-balanced: the old-fashioned, melodramatic closed structure. (Some of the jokes in this film are also a bit old.)
Then again, there is a thread running through the film: life is precious. Both in the love part and in the love part, they performed very well. The mule seems to be the messenger of the yin and yang worlds.

Morally, the director clearly leans towards Luca and Sabah's fire of passion. Although he made the relationship between the two extremely itchy and dreamlike, there was one thing that made people uncomfortable: Before meeting Sabah, Luca still loved his neurotic wife. I boldly speculate that the director's stubborn handling of this is not expressing his position: whether I still love my homeland or not, I am still willing to devote myself to the embrace of the new country?

In at least one scene I saw Kusturica's homage to "Underground": Luca pretends to be drowning, surfacing quietly from behind Sabah while she's anxious.
Like when I watched Underground, I could only see the allegory and symbolism at the end. Journalists who speak American English speak bullshit; eagles flying to eat their own geese are a symbol of the invasion of foreign powers.
The process of the Bosnian war, I do not understand, do not know how to explain. Anyway, the war has separated people on both sides and cut off their former communities, but it has not blocked the love of people on both sides, even if their religious beliefs are different, it doesn't matter. Hope to find more information.

The depression before 1988, the madness after 1988, the two completely different styles can be changed at any time in the same film.
