Erotica is not the same as pornography. The sexy in pornography is the slender wrists when pulling up long hair, and the small movements of biting your lips when you are on the phone. Everyone's understanding of sexy is different, this film is very sexy to me.
There are only four protagonists in the movie, and all four of them are forced to weave lies because of their lies. It cannot be said that lie or sex is the original reason. This is a chicken-and-egg problem, and I can't figure out what to do. And in this life where sex and lies are intertwined, videotape has undoubtedly brought a new way out of the chaotic reality.
John is a successful man who has just been promoted to partner in a law firm. He is proud of the spring breeze, and his sexual affairs with his wife Ann are not in sync at all. He had an affair with Ann's sister Cynthia and told his wife Ann one lie after another.
Ann feels that there are more things to care about in the world, such as famine in Africa, such as the increasing amount of garbage outside, and sex is really a small thing in comparison. So every time John wanted to have sex, she just cooperated and fulfilled her duty as a wife. For her, sex is a burden. She hadn't had an orgasm.
Cynthia has been having an affair with her brother-in-law, and her relationship with her sister Ann is as tense as ever.
Graham drove back to his hometown after a nine-year absence. Came with the impotent, videotape.
John and Cynthia weave a lie because of an affair, while Ann and Graham repress their sexuality because of the lie.
Ann resigned to become a full-time wife. She told herself that she had a perfect life, but subconsciously, Ann realized that her life was beautiful on the surface, but desolate in reality. Ann also has her own thoughts and desires about sex, as well as the idea of having sex with others, but this is only the idea that her sister Cynthia has, and she can be someone who is completely different from Cynthia. It can be seen here that the two sisters have always been at odds, and subconsciously, Ann regards Cynthia as a competitor. The more casual Cynthia is, the more conservative Ann is. Perhaps for this reason, Ann has been suppressing her true thoughts about sex.
After Graham broke up with his first love, he thought it was sex that made the gap between them. So he believes that sex is the best way to meet a woman. He lied about his impotence, hid behind the videotape and asked women about sex, examined every woman, and lived a life that seemed absurd and unruly to normal people. This shield was broken by John because John told Graham that your first love was not a saint and she was good in bed.
At the end of the film, only John continues to weave lies and live an imaginary good life. Others have already been redeemed. It's a promising ending.
Sex, like eating, drinking and sleeping, is an unavoidable thing. Also, I really think this movie is healing.
