Another classic textbook for science horror films

I gave it a 7/10 because this film once again served as a good tutorial for a domestic horror film! On

how to properly use the uncanny valley effect. Because of Annabelle, I watched this film with the mentality that there must be ghosts . So the Twist of the plot is a bit unexpected. The

couple in the film, I initially thought they were the villains, maybe a bit like a master key, trying to find a substitute, but I guessed the beginning and didn't guess the end correctly, the two were overwhelmed Suicide is also never expected.

And the scene where the boy climbs out of the mirror is even more wonderful, making perfect use of the Uncanny Valley effect, that face and distorted posture, reminds me of my psychological shadow---the one in Silent Hill Sister Nurse, it is really scary.

I always thought that the soul was haunting, and finally explained it in a very scientific way. It can really set an example for domestic horror films. It is also a thriller. There is no ghost in this film. Scary pale faces, or red-clothed ghosts floating around, just use all kinds of missing objects, inexplicable noises, spooky specimens and paintings, and of course, a bit clichéd photos to create the horror atmosphere There is a piano, but there is no sudden sound of the piano, and there is a bathroom, but there is no sudden blood spurt, so in a sense, it is still relatively innovative. Of course, the phonograph and the dead mouse corpse that suddenly come to mind are still a bit cliché .And

this film of course also has something that I think is a failure. The most obvious is the change in the heroine's attitude towards the doll. The doll suddenly placed a plate of sandwiches at the door of the heroine, and the heroine firmly believed that the doll did not want to hurt her. I was frightened to death, and later felt that the doll was a good person, and taking care of it like being forcibly brainwashed was also a bit too sudden, so I couldn't understand whether it was because she was afraid that she cared for it or was moved because she was moved. And the ending was a little rushed. , instead of letting the heroine come back to kill the boss in one fell swoop, it might be more exciting to have a group kill. The heroine kills the boss at the same time.

The tone of the whole film is great, the soundtrack is qualified, especially at the end with a lullaby change with the face of a broken doll, on the one hand, it points out that the boss is not hanging, and on the other hand, it fits the theme, because the boss always wants a goodnight kiss. After the end of the final sound, I thought There will be a thriller, but it's a pity that it really ended. The font selection of the staff table at the beginning of the film and the still life coordination are very textured, and the photography is well received!

Finally, this film is also sponsored by Huayi Brothers, please ask domestic Guan Erzhi Famous director, can we learn how to make scientific horror films and then make them again? Isn’t a horror film a good one just by selling meat?

The Boy quotes

  • Mr. Heelshire: [about Brahms] Be good to him and he'll be good to you. Be bad to him and...

Mrs. Heelshire: [interrupting him] Oh... she will be good to him, won't you, Mrs. Evans?

Greta Evans: Yes, I'll--I'll treat him like my own.

  • [the Heelshires are about to leave the house]

Mrs. Heelshire: [whispering in Greta's ear as she hugs her goodbye] I'm so sorry.

Mr. Heelshire: [nerviously] Come along, my dear. It's time we left.
