Even if you become a zombie one day, I will be willing to kill for you.
In the comedy called "Santa Clarita Diet," the classic plot goes like this: Joel (Timothy Olyphant), the male protagonist, gently confronts a corpse. Wife Shiela (Drew Barrymore) says: "We'll take him to the warehouse, where you can eat him. I'll wipe off the blood and put some bleach on the floor to make sure it doesn't leave a stain." Wife A look of emotion and admiration: "It's so sexy that you command everything."
Based on the way of answering the questions in the Chinese test paper, it is not difficult for us to conclude two points: first, this wife eats people; second, this couple is really loving. Great, you've gotten to the point of this show.
Joel and Shiela are a couple of ordinary real estate agents living in the small town of Santa Clarita and have a daughter, Abby, who is in high school. One day, Shiela suddenly felt unwell, vomited half a universe of ginger-yellow sticky substance and a spherical organ, and became a zombie. Interestingly, Shiela herself likes this "post-death" self very much: she, who used to be quite normal, has become bold, interesting, and lovable, with endless energy every day, and her sex life with her husband is so harmonious.
While other film and television dramas on the market express marital contradictions by quarreling, cheating, living in a company, and shopping spree, "Rebirth Menu" shows midlife crisis and marital problems as "wife turning into a zombie". Like all successful couples, the two decided to fight side by side and get through it together — killing people together, carrying bodies together.
This novel setting puts a layer of absurd and terrifying comedy on daily life: human fingers have become snacks that you carry around, fruit smoothie has derived a "meat sauce version", and cleaning a murder scene has never been so romantic... …The short parent-teacher dialogue is also full of wit and humor: "I hate eating so late," Shiela grumbled as she dragged the corpse; "Yes, honey, that's something to complain about." Joel said, "Wow, the coffee smells so good, How can there be such a good drink." "Don't bother (to convince me)." Shiela shrugged.
But Joel has deep fears. Killing is immoral after all. "The ideal is to find a younger version of Hitler," he concluded. He got a list of some fugitive murderers from a police neighbor and used them as prey. But he found that when his wife was biting at the target without hesitation, he, the husband, was so frightened that he could not hold the knife. Shiela had proposed to go it alone, but found that without Joel around, even the freshest meat tasted tasteless; Joel also felt guilty and apologetic for not supporting his wife. And so there's one of the show's most romantic scenes: Joel shaving her "dinner" legs while Shiela sits by the bathtub ready to feast on her. "It's about how to love each other and how to deal with sudden changes in life together," explains star Timothy Olyphant.
In the play, Abby and Nerd's classmate and neighbor Eric also sprouted a love line. Eric happens to have a lot of research on zombies, and Abby often complains to him. The two young people with high IQ have their own shyness and weakness. The moving scene of "Rebirth Menu" is nothing more than the four people working together to love and kill together. Life is hard, but even the most sinister and murky situations feel happy as long as you have each other by your side.
Joel is so warm. . excerpt
"We're going to kill people together, honey. That way you'll have something to eat. We've been 'Joel and Sheila' since high school. I'll be with you this time too."
"(To help you kill) can't say 'extremely happy'. But, 'you're welcome'."
"I killed him. That's what happened. He threatened to send you to jail and said mean things!"
"My life was like a swirl of catastrophe and no way out. Worst of all, I couldn't even drink my favorite person to talk about it. Because she would blame herself, I couldn't."
