Lamentations of the Little People

The five-star rating is not because I support terrorist attacks, but because this movie makes me understand why some people do this kind of thing.

Although, this is a realistic film, but the form of expression is also used very well. From the suddenly boiling kettle in the repair shop, corresponding to the next car smashing; to going deep into the narrow aisle when setting the task, and finally fixed in a crowded corner; when the male protagonist hesitated about the task, the pale ruins behind him ; There is also an uneven picture during the kiss, a large blank space on the right indicates the departure of the male protagonist; until the end, the camera moves to a close-up of the male protagonist's eyes, the voice is silently choked out, and the silent white light symbolizes death.

Before watching the movie, I was prejudiced against terrorists, thinking they were stupid and violent. But I saw them at work, they got along with their families, and I found that they were no different from us; I saw them wearing suits that represent civilization in Western society, tall, thin, and young, and I felt that they were brainwashed by terrorist organizations. I felt sorry for them; the mission was blocked by accident, so I ran with them for a day, and gained time to watch and think a little bit more. The friend who originally believed in heaven and fairness was saved, and the male protagonist who was disappointed in the world implicated a group of innocent people on a dead end.

Tragedy can find an outlet for people's unfulfilled emotions. I believe the purpose of this film is to give those wounded by violence a chance to soothe their wounds. Don't let the wound get worse and go to an irreversible situation.

Paradise Now quotes

  • Suha: Why are you doing this?

Khaled: If we can't live as equals, at least we'll die as equals.

Suha: If you can kill and die for equality you should be able to find a way to be equal in life.

Khaled: How? Through your human rights group?

Suha: For example! Then at least the Israelis don't have an excuse to keep on killing.

Khaled: Don't be so naive. There can be no freedom without struggle. As long as there is injustice, someone must make a sacrifice.

Suha: That's no sacrifice. That's revenge. If you kill, there's no difference between victim and occupier.

  • Khaled: We still have paradise.

Suha: There is no paradise. It only exists in your head.
