The film "The Place" (Destiny Cafe)

Type of work: Drama

Main Cast: Valerio Mastandrea (as L'uomo the Mysterious Man)

Story Overview: It tells about different people who understand the gains and losses in life by talking with L'uomo (making requests, accepting tasks)

Release Date: November 9, 2017 in Italy

Viewing reflection: one word, tired. The reason is mainly because the film information is too scattered, the rhythm is too slow, and there are too many dialogues, especially long conversations, which can easily cause the audience to feel tired and lead to a sharp decrease in the interest in watching the film.

Video format:

The format of the film is reminiscent of Tom Hardy's Locke and Colin Farrell's Phone Booth. In a closed space, the protagonist of the chatterbox lays out and promotes the narrative through lines, the same logic, the same routine, and different fineness.

Video content:

Audiences who have watched "Perfect Stranger" believe that the information conveyed by this play will not be too unfamiliar.

a, Equivalent exchange. There are gains and losses, just like the two ends of a scale, no matter if you remove or add weights on one end, you must make corresponding adjustments to the other end.

b, human nature. Greed, jealousy, resentment, pity, tolerance, salvation, fraternity, tolerance, open-mindedness... Human nature is ever-changing, we can look far, but we can't be tempted.

c, the measure of people's heart. You can see people on the outside, but it's hard to capture people's hearts. What is the human heart like? We don't know, we can't measure, we can't touch.

Film director:

Paolo Genovese became popular with "Perfect Stranger", but this is the only work that can be done. This new work has returned to the prototype and failed to continue his heroic performance.

Film Actors:

There are only a few actors, and they all appeared in "Perfect Stranger", so they are familiar with it, and the routine is the same. The only difference in face-to-face "talk" programs is that the scene has changed, but "change the soup but not the medicine".

Watching Notes:

a, I was too tired to watch, the first 30 minutes were in a fog, I didn’t know who was who, cultivate the audience’s patience

b, there are more dialogues , the key is that the focus is less, pure nonsense, one tells a story, one listens to the story, there is almost no refreshing plot

c, the sense of rhythm is not good, procrastination, slow motion forward, for impatient people, it is an absolute challenge, and it is "mission impossible"

Just to summarize:

① Various characters

cash-strapped police

old woman with dementia

father saving son

The nun who wishes to perceive God

Mechanic hoping to have a one night stand with a pinup girl

Blind man who wants to restore light

A woman who hopes not to be abandoned by her boyfriend

The little three who wants to get "love"

② Various tasks

Beating, blasting, helping a lady cross the road, getting pregnant, robbery, kidnapping, murdering, saving people...

③Various endings

Some people refused the task (such as: old woman), some people completed the task (such as: mechanic), and some people gave up halfway (such as: police), different choices, but reflected the same thinking problem - - How deep is the desire (dark side) of the human heart?

Work grade

Director★☆☆☆☆ (played too much, obviously feeling powerless)

Actor ★★★★★ (very dedicated, so many lines, not easy)

Plot ☆☆☆☆ (form is greater than content, especially the slow rhythm makes people less interested)

Visual effects ★★★★☆ (the same scene, using the change of light to create different psychological effects)

Sound effects ★★★☆☆ (ED is good, the soundtrack has no sense)

Recommendation ★★★☆☆ (only suitable for "chronic children")
